Nation Wide Mock Draft
Hello Cowboys Fans,
I had an idea for a mock draft in which your sports nation site acts as your team. Over the next few months I plan to visit each team's site and allow for each reader to help pick your team's draft pick. Please answer the poll to select your team's draft pick.
Just to give you a little more on this idea and myself, I am a writer for bleacherbumsports.net and will continue to organize all of the draft information I receive through my site. The poll will be up for 3 days after which the player with the most votes is your teams draft pick. I will then move on to the next site and have them pick from which players are left. This will only be a first round draft and can not involve trades so please pick where your team currently is. I cannot verify in the proper amount of time if the other team would accept your trade.
I would really appreciate everyones help with this. Thanks in advance! - Sam
Current Draft Results:
1. Colts - QB Andrew Luck
2. Rams - WR Justin Blackmon
3. Vikings - OT Matt Kalil
4. Browns - QB Robert Griffin III
5. Buccaneers - CB Morris Claiborne
6. Redskins - OT Riley Reiff
7. Jaguars - DE Quinton Coples
8. Dolphins - DE Melvin Ingram
9. Panthers - CB Dre Kirkpatrick
10. Bills - LB Courtney Upshaw
11. Seahawks - RB Trent Richardson
12. Chiefs - OG David DeCastro
13. Cardinals - OT Jonathan Martin
The Poll will be open until Feb 23 at 1pmAnother user-created commentary provided by a BTB reader.

This is a Nightmare Scenario
All the guys I want are gone. I picked Konz because I’d rather have the top OC then the 3rd rated DB with attitude issues.
he doesn't have an attitude issue...
He was arrested three times for possession of marijuana! Since being cut from Florida he has cleaned up his act (from what I’ve seen/read)! I’d take Jenkins at 14 easily. If not for his problems he’d be fighting Claiborne for the #1 CB spot.

I have no issue with marijuana
I have major issues with idiots who get caught with it over and over. Of course he’s “cleaned up his act.” He’s about to enter the draft and wants his money. That doesn’t mean he’s changed. He’s Pacman all over again.

It was four times busted for weed and once for assault.
Jenkins has the most character flaws of anyone in this draft.
Wars are won in the trenches and we need some new big uglies!
He is a thug. Pacman Jr.
Plus he plays weak, doesn’t like to tackle and ankle tackles when he has to. Gets swallowed up by big recievers. Watch some videos on him. Kirkpatrick’s little trouble didn’t bother me. He otherwise had a clean record and seems like a good guy in interviews…but he is gone so this sucks.

I chose Konz too because of concerns over Jenkin’s size

good thinking doing this but Free agency will alter peoples thoughts. I`d only do round 1 this time and do another after free agency. I went Barron as we need safety help as well and good corners can be had later in the draft. Nick Perry might be a Draft riser after the Combine so we might be clamoring for him.
Second the motion on doing this again post-FA.
Formerly Pineywoods - different name, same cockeyed view of the world.
Jason Garrett - Lord of Order
Rob Ryan - Lord of Chaos
Isn't that.. what MTD is for? Its essentially the same thing..

Atta boy! I, too, expect Perry to explode at the Combine. Trojans, back-to-back?

I certianly wont complain.
I think after the combine if Decastro and Perry are both their we’ll be pissed that Perry isnt the pick.
He’s a stud, I cant wait to see how he times and what he jumps.
this is a nightmare situation
so I went with Perry, who can be a poor man’s Demarcus Ware… meaning he’ll be like the 2nd or 3rd best player in the NFL.. that’s a joke but seriously with DeCastro & Kirkpatrick gone, time to look for great value at a high draft spot

Trade down
Trade the Cowboys’ 1st and 4th for the Bengals’ 1st and 2nd.
14 + 113 = 21 + 53 (1,168 = 1,170)
At 21, select BPA of Peter Konz, Mark Barron, Janoris Jenkins or Stephon Gilmore.

Brockers, Perry, Still, (or who knows), could motivate someone to trade up.
This is like a Zoo Parade right now. Love makes guys do goofy stuff.
hahahahaaaaa
redskins- bought by Snyder, OWNED by THE Cowboys !
Ryan- If only i could get that kind of aggression from my. Hey! You gonna eat that ?
Texans .....stand tall and REP !
Agree completely
I’d be pretty despondent if we didn’t trade out of the #14 spot if this is what was left. If we could get to the high teens/low 20’s and come away with Konz, I would be quite happy. Trade back into the 1st late in for Poe and I’d be delirious

in this scenario I would want to trade down too but would anyone want to trade up?

Sounds really good, assuming we get Konz or Jenkins
I feel like there are more good options in the 2nd than at 14.
Went with Jenkins by default
This would not be what i would hope for….I hope a qb rises post combine to push another option to us at 14

This sucks. I hope the draft doesnt fall this way.
We’d have to trade down under this scenario.
Jenkins/Konz/Perry/Still That’s tough, we need DB help badly, guess I’m taking Jenkins and hoping for the best. May be kicking myself later and wishing I’d taken Konz or Glenn, but #14 is just to early to take them.
I would hope we throw in a 4th to the Chiefs and select DeCastro though.
This would be a nightmare scenario but...
…I think Brockers and Still will both be drafted. In a mock like this, fans want fun, sexy picks, but in real life, those guys are going to go in the top ten. I am not sold on Brockers because of a lack of college production, but I think he goes in the top ten.
Brockers was close to going 9th to the panthers
also I think you have my favorite name on any of the sites I have come across so far.
Trade down
Maybe someone wants to trade up for Ryan Tannehill
If I can’t trade down Jenkins
number 14 is too early for Konz or Glenn or Brokers.
Brockers is interesting but only after 24.
I Picked Brockers
Wanted to get DeCastro, but I just can’t see how it could possibly fall this way. I wouldn’t be surprised if Jerry goes CB or S. There’s prob nothing wrong w/ picking Barron and I know we struck gold getting Lee in the 2nd b/c of his injury. If we got him wouldn’t he have to sit out of OTA’s, preseason and possibly 1st couple of wks until he was completely healed up. Maybe he’s worth the wait but I would like my draft pick to be able to come in w/ the opportunity to learn Rob’s defense quickly.
I picked Brockers b/c he can be moved all along d-line and I gotta feeling as much as everyone wants, that haus DT, that Jerry&Co. just won’t bite the bullet on this type of player in the 1st round. I just don’t see Coleman making the team this yr either. Brockers could inject some youth to this D-line. I really hope that J.Brent can really take a strong step forward into this space eating DT player that we all want/need.
trade down Pick up
Hightower
and get a extra 2nd or 3rd
"Do you want to be safe and good, or do you want to take a chance and be great?"
This is the worst case
I think theyd trade down if it fell like this; dont think theyll touch Jenkins. I’ll say Barron cause I think hed make the biggest impact and it would be such a relief to not have to complain about safety play for awhile!
Don’t worry. There’s gonna be plenty to complain about regardless. 8-8 seasons in Cowtown will do that.

Brockers, Perry, or Jenkins in this scenario.
I voted Brockers but any of those guys would be fine by me.
If I had a nickel for every Super Bowl the Eagles have won, I would have zero nickels.
Brockers....
…just seems like too big of a gamble to me. He scares the heck out of me. So much potential but so raw. He is the biggest boom/bust prospect in this whole draft. I hope he is gone before we pick, so we aren’t tempted to grab him. We can not miss in this draft especially at 14 overall. He just didn’t produce enough in college to be worth this gamble. Also, seeing how the recent LSU first round lineman have underwhelmed with Spears and Dorsey and Tyson Jackson. If you’re going to draft a lineman that high, he better at least produce in college like JJ Watt did.
Brockers will be better after his first season. He is loaded with talent though.
Jerry is the end all in Dallas.
BPA on this list = Luke Kuechly imo
Not what I have hopes for, while at the same time taking Kuechly would keep him from making Philly fans happy. This last part is always a consideration for me.
A trade down with only this list of players still on the board that got us an additional 2nd rd pk ould be even better though. I would expect, and hope, to still pu Jenkens at around 18-20 or so.
All mock drafts will make much more sence after we know what happens in free agency.

I picked Kuchley
While Jenkins may be a Great Cover Corner, his HIeght AND the Charater concerns scare me away….
I have watched Several scouting videos on Kuchley and the similarity to Sean Lee is scary…
Drafting Kuchley fills a need as Dallas needs at least one more ILB, plus Kuchley gives Dallas insurance in case either Sean Lee gets hurt, or Bruce Carter doesn’t pan out. plus he is BPA with KIrkpatrick, DeCastro, and Couples gone….
Here’s a theoretical play from 2010: Snap. Tony takes 7 step drop. Tony looks left at Miles, who is doubled, and looks right to where Roy Williams should be…but instead sees Colombo on his back and a Defensive End foaming at the mouth jumping over Marc’s carcass. Tony proceeds to run like hell and look for Witten

Now, if somebody doesn’t agree with that, that’s cool. I also don’t agree with the fact that I don’t have $10 million in my bank account. But the fact that I don’t agree with it doesn’t make it any less true.

Don't draft Jenkins
Too many Red flags…You already spent a first round on "Red flagged’ player in Bryant….Don’t do it again. Draft lunch pail guys with character and build a championship team the right way …..The way the steelers do it…the way the patriots do it.
Drafting knuckleheads that high will just continue to hold the franchise back.
Go character and talent moving forward …if you want to roll the dice roll them in the 3rd round or later not the first.
Ok...
I could go w/ Kuechly. He’s a tackling machine and LB is a big big need for us. If we target Barron I believe he will go between #20-#28…so we can trade down 6-7 spots and pick up a later round 3rd.
But….I pray to god we get DeCastro….OG/C is our biggest need and DeCastro appears to be a plug & play blue chipper. If we take DeCastro we don’t need to waste anymore 4th and 5th round OL picks for the next 5 years.
There is no reason to draft Jenkins
Given what KC just paid for Stanford Routt, there’s no way they’re keeping Brandon Carr who is much better than Routt. Address CB via free agency making Carr the #1 option at replacing Newman. Carr is listed at 6-0, 207lbs and he’s 25 years old and he’s a HAWK. Get off the J.Jenkins bandwagon.

KC has like 60 million in cap space
they can afford both, and still have cap room spare

True, but
They still need to sign Bowe, they could make a push for Carl Nicks and they need a QB, assuming they don’t go with Orton and we’ll see what Romeo does there. I know they have the room for Carr, but it makes perfect sense for the Cowboys to make him a 1a or 1b in FA this year.

Jenkins = Pacman Jones
Infinite athleticism, 2 cent brain.
I will awaken my expectations for the Cowboys when Jerry Jones is in the ground.
I hope the fans are wrong.
I would go with Jenkins if we didn’t trade down. Depressing that DeCastro, Ingram, Upshaw, etc., are all gone.
Wish you were here and comfortably numb.
If this is how it shakes out, trade down.
If BPA is not a position of need and if BPA for a position of need is not in the general area (within a few spots of where we are picking), IMO we should trade down, I hope they don’t reach for someone and we could use the extra picks this year. I am looking forward to the FA period to see where we are headed and figure what we should be looking to the draft for.
I just went with Barron
Secondary needs help. Barron looks like a legit safety although I would rather have Dre. As long as we address CB in FA then I’M ok with my pick. Secondary is the weakest link. Gotta fix that and then find the next weakest link and fix it and so on.
How about this
Sign Carr. He is legit and young. This eliminates urgency for CB in the draft. Try and draft DeCastro at 14. Let’s say he is gone. Trade down 4-6 spots pick up a 2nd or 3rd and draft Barron.
The only big problem left is SOLB. I’m comfortable taking my chances there. Draft and Guys already on the roster. SOLB isn’t going to lose a game for you with a few mistakes. Not having Secondary or OL will lose a game in a blink of an eye.
I would have taken Konz
but I didn’t get here in time to vote, but apparently that didn’t matter because the majority want Jenkins. You know you could just wait till the second round to get Trumaine Johnson if you are desperate for a corner. The only reason he isn’t rated the best corner in the draft is because of the conference he plays in and the competition of said “big sky” conference. Other than that, according to NFL.com:
Despite playing in the Football Championship Subdivision, Johnson is an NFL-ready corner who is projected to be picked in the second round.
There will be a learning curve with him, however I think he is going to be the steal of this draft and could end up being probably one of the best defensive backs in this class. I say just be patient and wait and grab him in the second round and take Konz or Decastro or someone else in the first and pass on the other corners.
Johnson is fast, tall, has great ball skills and is a sound tackler on the edge. There really isn’t too much not to like about this guy on tape.
