Local Store having Cowboys for Autographs, Should I?
Hey guys, should I pay 49$ for a DeMarco Murray autograph with only a lean in photo? I am not really a big fan of autographed stuff unless it was unique. I'd cherish the photo more.. but its only a lean in. Also There will be no JSA onsite, does that matter?
Also It doesn't say it here yet but Bob Lilly is coming at a later date for cheaper and less restrictions I defn should go get his right? I mean as a Cowboy fan its law, right?
They have other Cowboys but its drop off item only and to me that is the biggest rip off possible.
Just wanted to hear your guys opinions on autographs, prices, photos, young players etc..
Thanks!

This would be my first chance..
I have an awesome signed Witten throwback mini helmet that also says how bout them cowboys, and I have a mini helmet will a bunch of cowboys signatures from 07. But I wasnt there for either.
Like I said I don’t really care about the signature but more of the moment and meeting them with a photo to cherish.
So yeah Cowboy nation what are your views on autographs and meeting cowboys.

I'm not much for autographs, and I wouldn't pay for one, but meeting a legend like
Lilly would be cool.
so you'd pay 30$ to get a picture with Lilly?

That's the only option? Honestly? No. But I wouldn't pay for a picture any more
than I’d pay for an autograph.
I wouldn't get to meet him unless I had a ticket.
Hmm.

Here's some of the things I see...
Is that picture of you standing next to Lily, and the chance to meet him, worth the $30 to you?
Sure, it’d be great if this were supporting some charity or another to add substance to your ‘donation’, but … these opportunities are limited. And they will get more so for these Cowboy icons. Even in my under-employed status this would beg some serious contemplation were this in my neighborhood.
Yeah that's what I was kind of thinking.
I aint made of money but Lilly is defn a legend

I'd say Bob Lilly for sure
since he’s a legend and will always be one.
Demarco…Just depends. Essentially you’re “wasting” $50. Since you probably wont sell it and even if you do how much would that be worth? Keep also in mind that the way the NFL is now, he may not be a Cowboy for his whole career…or he may be a one hit wonder. I certainly hope not but you never know.
But if to you the experience is cool then go for it. I’ve gotten autographs of several Cowboys as part of events I went to….some former some current (at the time). A lot of them aren’t Cowboys anymore..
but the experience was cool and I still have the pictures/autographs hanging on my wall in my Cowboys home office.

I understand.
Yeah I just wanted to see how people approached this kind of thing. I have never been a fan of paying for an autograph but it just happens Murray (rookie) and then Lilly (legend) and it got me thinking. Neither are a favorite player or anything. I’d probably pay 100$ to meet Witten.
My GF is meeting AB (84 on steelers)and she is really excited about it, so i kind of felt left out haha.

your GF is a steeler fan?
now that…I have issues with.
You definitely need to meet one of the Boys to wash your sins away. =)

I'd go for Lilly
I got his autograph at this year’s draft party and my knees were shaking when I got up there. With someone like DeMarco, much as I love him, I’d suggest waiting. There’s always the chance that you’ll see him later in another situation and be able to get that picture you really want.
I have Lilly's autograph. I didn't have to pay.
He was Mr. Cowboy in his day. The first great Dallas dt. He is an icon in Dallas lore. He is a gentleman. He is worth your $30 bucks.
I have 38 autographs. I would never sell any of them. Football is my hobby and my passion. I got to chat with Mike Singletary at a private benefit and got his sig on a Bears mini helmet. If you ever have a chance to hear him speak. Do it. You will see those eyes like when he played. He is very intense and a wonderful family man. He litterally came from ghetto’s of Houston Tx and overcame.
I sat with Andre Reed in the Canton Ohio airport for an hour and talked football and many other things. Extremely nice guy. As luck would have it he sat on my plane 1 row behind me. We kept chatting. Very humble man.
That is the thing for me. What kind of person are they ? As much as we fans think we know football if you ever get to sit with a player you will learn quickly how much you don’t know.
In regards to meeting players I have been blessed beyond what I deserve. My business has allowed me opportunities that most never get to participate in. For that I am very grateful.
Jerry is the end all in Dallas.
That's awesome mensa!
Im an avid autograph collector. I do it because its great to interact with the players. The older ones like Lilly are the best. They are very down to earth and don’t have huge egos like some of the current players. Some people don’t like to pay for them, to each its own I guess. But if you looking at it from a financial perspective, they can be a great investment

I happened to be flying from Midland, Tx to Albuquerque, and across the aisle from me
was none other than the great Don Maynard, wearing cowboy boots, jeans, and a western
shirt. We spent the flight kidding around with the flight attendant, who was wearing her
boyfriend’s Superbowl ring (I think he was a Steeler … ack…) on a chain, and talking about
football. Very nice, down to Earth guy. He had some interesting things to say about Joe
Namath, e.g., Joe Willie was one of the hardest workers on the field he ever saw. After
we landed and he walked off to get his luggage I noticed he still looked like he was in
playing shape – no gut, no double chin, no puffy face, just a lean athletic 60+ year old
man. Holy Cabrito I hope I look half that good.
