Why is no one talking about Bruce Irvin?

this dude is by far the best pass rushing OLB prospect... he's lightning fast, he is extremely agile and strong for his lack of size. He will just need a year or two to bulk up to take on a full-time role. He will go in the 2nd or 3rdnow and could really help our pass rush day 1. IMO something like trade down and grab Jenkins and a 3. Osemele in the 2nd. Package worst 3rd and 4th to move up for Irvin etc.

I just dont see it on this site

And what is annoying is people point to his size and lack of run/coverage ability and then turn around and say they don’t care if Spenser can cover and stop the run… well then here’s your buy. Get a jag FA for that.

People would care more

to retain Spencers’ run stopping if they just imagine RBs’ of all types getiing the corner on us. Although, maybe not at a franchise tag cost…….

4 of the past 6 SB Champs

Had run defenses that were in the bottom 15 of the NFL.

2006 Colts: #32; 2009 Saints: #19; 2010 Packers: #21; 2011 Giants: #18

Tag Team name for Sean Lee and Bruce Carter is RUSH HOUR

he's not that good, he's raw

but i like it that way, i want him to fell in order to give the cowboys a chance to draft him in the third. However i think he’s going to blow out the combine with his 40 and short shutle

King Crimson album cover...nice.

Brings back memories

I started out with nothing and still have most of it left

Hes one of the few guys

I’d be OK with overdrafting. I think he’d be an upgrade in passrush and in a few years be a stud. Word on the street is that he’s already added like 15lbs. The dude works his tail off and just wants to be great.

by stegosaurus! on Feb 22, 2012 8:05 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

Correction

He has added “like 17”lbs as of the 16th… according to his twitter. That’s a lot. If he still blows up the combine he could even sneak into the 1st… if he’s there in the second when we pick I hope we snag him

I don't know! But let me ask you this...

Why is noone talking about Devon Still?

Idk... I like still

But I don’t love him and I’m not sure I’d be OK with him in the 1st…

by stegosaurus! on Feb 22, 2012 9:14 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

I wouldn’t mind him, He is not a first round choice.

Irvin vs. Curry

Irvin really doesn’t seem to get much love on this site, but Vinny Curry sure does and from video I have seen, deservedly so. I am torn between those two and Massaquoi myself, but the combine should clear some of the confusion up.

by 405dallasfan on Feb 23, 2012 12:34 AM CST via mobile reply actions

wow

Just saw video on Irvin, the dude is definitely raw, but his first step is off the charts. The footage I saw was from his 14 sack Junior season, but it showed him using strength not only his speed to get past offensive tackles. Another thing that surprised me was how he used his hands to get off blocks. I predict his 40 and short shuttle times will cause him to be an early day 2 pick, hopefully. But if he runs TOO WELL, someone will take a chance on him possibly in the first. I would love for the Boys to get him, and if he is as athletic in the 260’s as the 235-240lb range, we may have an instant upgrade over Butler.

Thats how i feel

I know he is raw, but he has all the tools (and I think is the only prospect that does) he’s fast, smart, strong, etc. He has an awesome bull rush for what weight he played at his speed and explosiveness are obvious. He is great with his hands and has some decent moves. He def needs a bigger repetoir of moves but dware is the king of that and already works with other nfl players in the offseason.

???

Why no love for Massaquoi OCC?

by 405dallasfan on Feb 23, 2012 9:07 AM CST up reply actions

That's a good question

And the answer is fairly simple. On Jan 19th, I had just started studying up on draft prospects (something I’m still doing). At the time, Massaqoui wasn’t on my rader yet. But he made my top three list the very next day when I published this post:

Ok, I remember that post, very informative and if my memory serves me correct, that might be when I actually took notice of Vinny Curry for the first time.

We've down pretty well with guys named Irvin

Yes to him in the 2nd. Of course, that’s taking into account we get Dre in the first, and sign a FA center.

by sportsfanatic21 on Feb 23, 2012 8:35 AM CST reply actions

Fanatic, I have this strange feeling that we are going to keep our search for a starting Center in house, as scary as that sounds…

by 405dallasfan on Feb 23, 2012 9:29 AM CST up reply actions

well we got Kowalski who played well and Nagy and of course Costa

If one of these guys blows up in the strength room they all showed enough talent to give them the chance. Maybe less on Costa :) Those snaps were all over the place at times

by livemontana on Feb 23, 2012 3:18 PM CST up reply actions

Costa

His snaps would’ve literally been hilarious….if he played for the Giants.
