Jason's Mock V1.0 (Beta)

Greetings and salutations. This is my first stab at a Fan Post and also my first ever mock. I'm going to go over the first 3 rounds in more detail, since these rounds are the most important. I'll give my entire mock draft at the end. Go easy on me though. I'm a noob. To the jump!

Rd 1: David DeCastro, OG, Stanford. This is a no brainer for me. Gotta be DeCastro if available. With last years 1st going to an o-lineman and turning out to be a homerun pick, I wouldn't mind repeating that success. He's as safe a pick there is and instantly upgrades the interior line. Many here have already gone into alot more exhaustive detail about DeCastro and his impact, so I'll leave it at that. Alternate: Melvin Ingram, OLB, South Carolina

Rd 2: Harrison Smith, SS, Notre Dame. Alot of people here, myself included were thoroughly impressed with his combine performance. One of his knocks is he is lacking in athleticism in comparison to others. Really? Here's a comparison to some other notable safeties and their combine performances.

Comparable, yes? The athleticism is there. He's also a sure tackler, has good instincts and ball skills, but most importantly, he's a smart player and that is something that has been lacking on this team. Alternate: Bruce Irvin, OLB, West Virginia.

Rd 3: Jamell Flemming, CB, Oklahoma. Now I will let it be known, I hate the Sooners. I get nauseous just thinking about crimson and cream. But I do like this kid. A lot. He had a good combine and was pretty good in the Senior Bowl, but most places still have him as a 3rd or 4th round pick. I'd easily take him in the 3rd. He's a tough press corner, which really makes him a good fit here. He's got good size and good ball skills. I think he's one of the best "second tier" corners in the draft and a great value in this round. Alternate: Markelle Martin, FS, Oklahoma State. (Go Pokes!)

Rd 4: Hebron Fangupo, DT/NT, BYU. A rather large Tongan line-man. Because every team should have one.

Rd 5: David Molk, OC, Michigan. 44 reps 225lbs at combine.

Rd 6: Devon Wylie, WR/KR/PR, Fresno. Wes Welker clone.

Rd7: James Hanna, TE, Oklahoma. (Ugh...) Fast receiving tight end.
