A lot of fans here seem to be chuckling about Marty B's value for the NY Giants. I wouldn't be so quick to judge him a bust. Compare what Tony Fasano did when he was here behind Jason Witten. In 2006 and 07, he had 14 catches each year for 126-143 yards and 1 TD total. Yet with the Dolphins, he averaged in the mid-30s in catches, with 4.5 TDs/year. I expect Marty B to do at least as well in NY as Fasano has done in Miami, probably better. For one thing, he's probably a better athlete. For another, he's got a much better QB throwing to him. For a third reason, he had better stats here than Fasano did. See below. I wouldn't be surprised to see Marty B match Jake Ballard's 2011 numbers (38 catches, 604 yards, 5 TDs) or Kevin Boss's 2010 (35 catches, 531 yds, 5 TDs).

I'm sorry we weren't able to sign Kellen Davis, who I thought would have been a slight upgrade over Bennet, maybe a significant one. At this point, there's no one left on the FA market who's going to be better, and the draft does not have quality tight ends. Plus, we need to fill other holes through the draft. The only reason not to panic is we have John Phillips, who is a servicable #2 TE.
