I just came over from the official team site. I read an article about Jason Witten's rebuttal to Jason Hatcher's belief that we don't have leaders. Jason Witten's rebuttal came at the grand opening of a Dunkin Donuts. I'm going to paste what Jason Witten said:
“I don’t want to speak for anybody but we’ve got plenty of leaders,” Witten said.“We’ve been in more situations where there’s been more players-only meetings and that. The bottom line is that we’ve got to go and play better and win ballgames and find a way to do that. I think you do that by sticking together. I think you do that when you have a strong group of six, eight, 10 guys, whatever it is. Jay Ratliff, DeMarcus Ware, Miles Austin, of course [Tony] Romo and you add young guys in there that are big-time players.
“I get frustrated by that because we haven’t been able to win those games, but we have the right types of guys that have given us every bit of what we need to be prepared to be in those situations. I’ll put our eight guys against anybody in the league. The bottom line is we’ve not played well enough to win those games and we need to do that and we need to have that urgency.”
It amazes me that people can't see that Hatcher is right. The fact that he said it, proves he is right. If a Ravens player said that, he'd be nervous about Ray Lewis or Terrell Suggs or even Ed Reed saying something directly to him. Not "the leader" talking about it at a donut shop grand opening. And it is not about the rah-rah speechs before the game, we had that. Brookings did that. Do we see now, what we saw on the sidelines during games in the 90's when Troy, Michael, Emmitt, Haley, & Newton were on the team. I never see it. They don't even put the camera on our sidelines because there is nothing to show. The fact that Witten said something to the press at a dunkin donuts grand opening speaks volumes. Ray Lewis would have said it directly to Hatcher. Not that "I don't want to speak for anybody but..." crap. THAT MEANS WITTEN YOU AREN'T THE LEADER!!! We can scratch your off the list. The leader WILL speak for the others...in the locker room to their faces ...not at a donut stand!!! As far as I am concerned, the only leader on that team might be Jay Ratliff. Ware is soft too. He had a chance to shut up everyone on the NFL network when they threw it right into his face, he did nothing also.
