Asante Samuel to Dallas

Do you think the Cowboys are even remotely interested in this fella? Apparently the Eagles are desperate to clear his salary cap hit from their books as soon as possible. And according to PFT, will take whatever they can get in terms of draft compensation.

So, understanding that the Cowboys have cap issues of their own, are there any scenarios that it would be worth it for us to grab him?

I can come up with only one idea off the top of my head....

If we worked a trade with someone like the Texans to send Anthony Spencer over for a mid-round pick. This would reunite him with Wade Phillips, and maybe he would like that. If that could be worked out, maybe trade a lower round pick to Philly for Asante. I know Asante wants to get paid -- who doesn't? But it might make it more appealing to go to a division rival and be immediately appreciated more. You have to believe that Jerrah could make Asante feel like a very important part of our roster, enough to come to terms with us near what Denver was reportedly unable to accomplish.

Yes, this would create an immediate need for help at the SOLB position, but as much as I personally have liked Spencer as a Cowboy, maybe this would be the best thing for all parties involved?

I don't know. This is just another conversation-starter. I'll be the first to admit that I don't have any of the answers, just daydream infused questions.

Fellow BTB readers and posters, what do you think?

Thanks!
