Happy Draft Day BTB!
Out of boredom and anticipation of Thursday's draft (and partially motivated by a couple glasses of scotch) I decided to butcher a classic poem and twist it to my own sick ends, hope you all enjoy, because today begins FOOTBALL CHRISTMAS! I know we all love draft weekend because it is the best chance for us to get better in the long run, and every pick is a potential ray of hope that will help our beloved Cowboys become the best team possible, and return to our winning ways.
Enjoy!
Twas the night before the draft, and all thru the house
The only one not working was some weird intern named Krauss
The draft board assembled meticulously with care
In hopes that an impact playmaker soon would be here
All of BTB nestled all snug in their beds
While visions of Barrons, DeCastros, and anyone but Dontari Poe danced in their heads
Jerry all suited up with Stephen and Garrett in tow
Step out of their suite to the war room below
When up at the podium, there arose such a clatter
We all eye Goodell to see what is the matter
Eyes glued to the TV with cold beer in hand
Rodger Goodell slowly makes his way up to the stand
Is it time already? It got here so fast
Ladies and gentlemen, we now open the 2012 Draft
In less time than it takes to light this cigar
The Indianapolis Colts trip over themselves to turn in the first card
Up next the Redskins to grab a franchise quarterback
But we're not scared, because to us, he's just another guy for DeMarcus Ware to sack
The Vikings take Kalil to shore up their line
Then the Browns take Richardson too high, but that's fine
Then on Claiborne, and Blackmon, and Cox and then who?
Everyone looks around to see what the Dolphins will do
In an attempt to try and plant the winning seed
The Dolphins grab Tannehill way too high out of need
Carolina takes Coples and the Bills go with a corner
They grab Stephon Gilmore in very short order
The Chiefs are up next and much to our surprise
They grab Dontari Poe to help shore up their line
The Seahawks up next, and let all be assured
If he's there they'll take Kuechly cuz' he's the best on the board
Only one pick till' us, and the war room erupts
Because no matter who falls he'll be useful to us
In a move that makes sense but some of us might not get
The Cardinals take Floyd to pair opposite of Fitz
The Cowboys now on the clock with a dilemma in hand
Which excellent player will make his home in Cowboys land?
We can't believe this just fell in our lap
DeCastro and Barron, with minimal hit on the cap
Garret closes his eyes, leans back and he thinks
No matter who I choose, we're all going out later for drinks
Both are RKG's, so the decision is hard
But to convert short third downs we grab us a guard
The BTB family erupts with a cheer
Gather round all, grab a friend and a beer
Because offense rules in the NFL today
And an upright QB is the only sure way
To ensure that going forward the star the league will fear
Because DeCastro tomorrow makes his home with us here!
