The Case for a Center

This will be brief. It doesn't take much convincing to remind you bloggers that the Cowboys were in dire straits at center and guard last year. So, what have we done about it? We brought in a couple of potential mild upgrades in Bernadeau and Livings, but they won't improve things that much unless we get consistent help for them in the middle. Let me put it this way. IF PHIL COSTA OR BILL NAGY ARE PLAYING CENTER FOR US IN 2012, THE COWBOYS WILL BE SEVERELY HAMPERED, EVEN WITH THEIR OTHER IMPROVEMENTS. Phil Costa was an undrafted free agent in 2010. Bill Nagy was a 7th round pick in 2010 who hadn't even kept his job at Wisconsin. It's not these guys' faults. They aren't under-performing. We just threw them in way over their heads. Their ceilings aren't that high.

So, in the third or fourth rounds, we must, WE MUST DRAFT A CENTER!!! This year. It has to happen. We've done too much to improve to cripple ourselves with awful center play. The anchor of the line, the man who Tony can rely on the help run the offensive machine of Witten, Miles, Dez, DeMarco/Felix...that man has to change for the better. And it can, with a simple pick. Give me Ben Jones, give me David Molk, give me Peter Blake...I'm not picky, just give me someone other than Costa or Nagy. Thank you. I'm finished.
