Mike Jenkins should start Week 1 Against NY

I've been keeping up with the reports coming from camp, especially on Morris Pick 6 Claiborne. I'm not too disappointed, but apparently he's a kabob and everyone's getting a go at grilling him. He's getting frequently torched by not only Dez Bryant (Not a surprise. He's DEZ FREAKIN BRYANT) and Miles Austin, but also the small name guys like Kevin Ogletree and Tim Benford. I don't blame Claiborne at all, he is only a rookie and hasn't been able to play any football for a while thanks to his wrist injury. So no alarm, but it is a sign that he might not be ready to handle such a vital role in the Cowboys defense right off the bat. Looking at previous CB's, they typically struggle in their rookie season. Patrick Peterson was the fifth overall pick last year, but his season was laughable. The game against the Giants on opening day will be HUGE for Dallas. They need the revenge and it will give them a 1-0 start that can set the tone for the season. The Giants already have a (stings to type it) prolific passing game and the Cowboys will need their absolute best secondary on the field that day. If Morris Claiborne struggles, Eli Manning is gonna be able to find his receivers often open against the rookie corner. I think Mo should be brought along slowly before he cracks the starting lineup.

Mike Jenkins is a proven player. He's a good, pro bowl corner, and as far as we know now, he will be on the Cowboys roster on game day, most likely manning the 3rd corner spot. Putting Mike Jenkins on Reuben Randall and having Mo on a tougher guy like Hakeem Nicks or Vicky is a definite mismatch. The Cowboys should wait until a team with a weaker pass attack to put Mo on the starting receiver. Mike Jenkins stated that he didn't ask for a trade and is considering a long term deal from Dallas. He is a good player, and I think he can handle a starting spot better that Mo can on his first day. Mo should lock a starting spot by the end of the year however. I like the idea of Carr and Jenkins starting with Claiborne working the slot. What are your thoughts?
