Welcome to week #3 of the NFL preseason! These game mean so much, don't they? Maybe there should be a preseason Super Bowl? The Less Than Super Bowl? Just a thought...
I'm an Editor for Turf Show Times, and I thought I'd drop by to talk Cowboys-Rams football. Like every year for the past ten seasons, the St. Louis Rams are filled with question marks. While concerns in the defensive secondary appear to be fewer than in years past, the offensive line and wide receiver corps are another matter all together.
Our newest wide-out rookie, Brian Quick, still has his small school training wheels on. Last year's pass catching rookie duo of Austin Pettis and Greg Salas are struggling to make the roster this season. (If we cut Salas, you should nab him as fast as you can!) In the back field, Steven Jackson has some help in the form of two rookies: Isaiah Pead and Daryl Richardson (Trent Richardson's Siamese twin separated at birth?).
Then of course there's the biggest question of all: Sam Bradford. Will he return to the promise shown in 2010, are curl up in a ball on the field at the first sight of DeMarcus Ware? Will his ankle hold up? Has having three different offensive schemes in three years been a "coordinator too far" for this once promising first overall pick in the NFL Draft? See what I mean? Lots of question, and hopefully more than a few can be answered by the time the regular season starts. Enough about the misty future of the Rams, how's in going in Cowboy Town?
With the rapid onset of injury-itis you may very well have caught from the Rams when you traded up to get Morris Claiborne, what players do you see returning before the start of the season in the wide receiver corps? I have Dez Bryant on three of my fantasy teams. Please tell me I didn't blow it when I by-passed Marques Colston for him in my drafts? Who do you see filling the WR3 void left by Laurent Robinson's departure in free agency? On the defensive front, have you solved the riddle in your secondary? OLB? What new additions spark your interest, and could help turn that oh so illusive corner in the NFC East?
I'll be inviting a few of TST's faithful to drop in and help answer question. If any of them get a bit snarky, be sure to let me know. So here's to an interesting third week look at our teams, and may the injury Gods find themselves anywhere but on the field at Cowboy's Stadium.
P.S. - I wrote a book.
