Hail To The Rookies.....

The Following images are intended for the sole use of Fans of the Dallas Cowboys.

Terrance Williams (#83) of the Cowboys, catches a 15 yard pass from Tony Romo with 9:03 remaining in the third quarter. Two plays before that another rookie made a key block on the Dwayne Harris 90 yard kickoff return. Cameron Lawrence (#53) of the Cowboys, an undrafted rookie linebacker from Mississippi State was activated Friday before the game laid a block on the Redskins David Amerson (#39) which led to him sitting out the rest of the way with a concussion. The block opened up the initial lane and since it lead to an injury it will not be posted.

Devonte Holloman (#57) of the Cowboys the first rookie to sign after being drafted in the sixth round from South Carolina has had his fair share of special team plays this season. His most recent was a booming sideline tackle in the second quarter on Niles Paul (#84) of the Redskins. This play was right after the Dwayne Harris 86 yard punt return for a TD. If you remember Keith Burns the Redskins special teams coach was flagged for interference with a referee on the sideline. On the first try, the Redskins were charged with an illegal motion penalty which prompted Garrett to retry the play. Garrett makes a key call and gets the credit there for knowing his talented return man could use all the return opportunities as possible.

The first TD of #21 Joseph Randle's professional career came at the 8:49 mark of the fourth quarter. The score put the Cowboys back up by double figures 31-16. Randle the rookie third round pick from Oklahoma State, was filling in for Demarco Murray who was injured in the second quarter. The key to this run was the second effort of not Randle but the Cowboys first round draft pick Travis Frederick. Travis or "Fredbeard" as he is also known gave the decisive push over the goal line. I guess we all witnessed first hand that leg squat strength as he is widely known for. Randle was so appreciative of Frederick's effort he asked him to autograph his game ball.

The draft picks have all been under heavy scrutiny since coming along, whether it was their draft status, lack of speed, blocking ability or overall draft grades. This was a game I will never forget, and since the rookies showed up and showed out I'd say they proved they are ready for the extra play coming their way.
