What a battle this NFC East Championship game has been. I did not expect the Cowboys, minus Tony Romo and the QB of the Defense to hang with the Eagles tonight. Them doing so just shows the incredible heart and fortitude of the players, and the Coaches' (read:Garrett) ability to pull this team together.
As I am writing this, I have no idea what the outcome of this game will be. All I know at the moment is that the defense has done a very respectable job up to this point, to hold the Eagles to only 24 points with the two turnovers they were given. What a great Goal-Line stand on 4th and inches. Quite a questionable call when the Cowboys went for it on 4th and 1-well, actually a good call but a good play by Connor Barwin. Gotta give the Eagles credit when it's due.
Again, I have no idea how this game is going to end. The Cowboys have the ball at their own 20-yd line, and there's 6:09 left in the regular season. Will Orton finally hit Dez Bryant in stride on a deep pass for a long TD, and then convert the 2-point conversion to tie the game? Or will the Cowboys go 3 & out and have to punt, giving the Eagles the opportunity to run out the clock , or score again to pretty much end the game. I don't know!
I pushed the pause button on my DVR (I am watching this game live) to write this Fanpost, so I can just say no matter how this game ends, it has been an enjoyable season. The Cowboys have always been in it, all the way until the last 6:09 of the regular season, where dreams are made realities. Will Orton lead them back to victory and become a highly sought QB by other teams, those teams willing to offer a 2nd round draft pick to trade for him? Or will he throw another pick to end the game and justify his status as a back-up QB ? I don't know, but there are so many wild scenarios running through my mind that it's driving me insane.
The most realistic and expected scenario is that Orton throws a pass that is tipped downfield and picked off, pretty much ending the game, but Orton hitting a deep ball to Dez , T-Will, or hell, even Miles Austin could just as well happen. Something tells me that the end of this game will be wild.
But no matter what, it's been a great game and an enjoyable season. 6:09 to go in the regular season. Will the Cowboys be hosting the Saints next week? Or will they be at home watching the team they are playing take them on in Philly? I'm about to find out. There's 6:09 to go.
