NFL Power Rankings (Week 14): Seahawks And Broncos Top The Rankings

Jamie McDonald

Here's a look at our power rankings heading into Week 14.

The Seahawks laid down the law yesterday and are the consensus number one in our power rankings for Week 14.

In our top ten this week, we have three teams (Saints, Chiefs, Lions) that finished at the bottom of their division last season. Conversely, the bottom three teams in our ranking (Falcons, Redskins, Texans) all won their divisions last year and have gone from first to worst in their division this year.

RANK TEAM W/L Power_rankings_logo_medium MOVE (LW)
1
Sea_medium 11-1 The Seahawks continue to impress, now 16-0 at home under Russell Wilson's guidance. It will take an alignment of the stars to keep this team out of the Super Bowl come January, as they are clearly the most balanced team in the league: 2nd in points allowed, 2nd in scoring average. [KD] (1)
2 Den_medium 10-2 The Broncos are 26th in points allowed. It doesn't matter how many points you give up, as long as you score more. But what if the offense ever doesn't score? [OCC] (2)
3
No_medium 9-3 There's no shame in losing to Seattle on the road, but there is something suspect about getting blitzed in that fashion. Now in a tie for first in the NFCS, N'Awlins has two games against the Panthers monster defense in three weeks. Drew Brees has a passer rating under 80 in four of their six road games of the year. [KD] (3)
4
Car_medium 9-3 The Panthers have won eight straight games, by far the longest winning streak of any team in the NFL. These Panthers are no fluke. [OCC] Gn-arrow-up_medium (5)
5
Ne_medium 9-3 You've got to like how the Patriots rallied for a 34-31 win. But you've got to wonder why a top-ranked team has to rally against the bottom-feeders from Houston in the first place. [OCC] Rd-arrow-down_medium (4)
6 Kc_medium 9-3 The Browns, Jets and Chiefs all have one thing in common: They are the only NFL teams to have lost their last three games. Three of Kansas City's next four games are on the road, and the Chiefs look far from being the dominant team they appeared to be at the start of the season. [OCC] (6)
7 Cin_medium 8-4 Every time the Bengals put together a little win streak we proclaim them "for real" and they inevitably show us they aren't. But this time, after their second win in a row, they must be "for real". [OCC] (7)
8 Sf_medium 8-4 The passing offense is clicking again, and they'll need that if they want to go anywhere in the playoffs. [OCC] (8)
9
Det_medium 7-5 It's rare to turn the ball over 4 times and win, and it's even rarer to do that and still win by 30. But the putrid Packers were willing enablers. [OCC] Gn-arrow-up_medium (14)
10 Ind_medium 8-4 On both sides of the football, the Colts statistically are not a good football team. Andrew Luck for example, with an 82.3 passer rating, is ranked 26th in the league among starters, yet the Colts still find ways to win. But for how long? [OCC] (10)
11
Dal_medium 7-5 The Cowboys are 5-2 over their last seven games, and are getting key starters back healthy for their stretch run. Can they hold off the Eagles? [OCC] (11)
12 Phi_medium 7-5 The Eagles kept pace with the Cowboys in the NFC East, but three consecutive games on their schedule against NFC North teams will be tough to win. [OCC] (12)
13 Ari_medium 7-5 Well, they were the flavor of the week for a while there, but the Eagles put an end to all that. [OCC] Rd-arrow-down_medium (9)
14
Bal_medium 6-6 Ravens fans are celebrating Baltimore's return to .500 like they just won the Super Bowl. The times they are a-changing. [OCC] Gn-arrow-up_medium (17)
15 Chi_medium 6-6 Over their last six games, the Bears have allowed an average of 205 rushing yards per game. They don't have to worry about bringing Jay Cutler back if they can't fix that. [OCC] (15)
16 Mia_medium 6-6 Oddly enough, the Dolphins at 6-6 are still very much alive in the AFC playoff race. [OCC] Gn-arrow-up_medium (21)
17 Sd_medium 5-7 The Chargers had 11 offensive drives on Sunday, but reached the red zone only once. That's not enough for a team that's over-reliant on its offense. [OCC] Rd-arrow-down_medium (13)
18 Gb_medium 5-6-1 The Packers have lost five straight without Aaron Rodgers, and with the way they are playing now, winning any of their remaining four games will be a challenge. [OCC] Rd-arrow-down_medium (16)
19 Stl_medium 5-7 The Rams offense couldn't get anything going as St. Louis lost a key NFC West battle in San Francisco. [OCC] Rd-arrow-down_medium (18)
20
Ten_medium 5-7 If the Titans were a person, that person would have two left hands and two left feet. The Titans simply can't get out of their own way, losing a very winnable game against the Colts with nothing to blame but their own ineptitude. [OCC] Rd-arrow-down_medium (19)
21 Pit_medium 5-7 Late in 2010, Jets S&C coach Sal Alosi instructed inactive Jets players to line up along the sideline so as to potentially impede opposing players. Alosi was fined $25,000 by the Jets and suspended for the remainder of the 2010 season. Does anyone believe Mike Tomlin's sideline move was "an accident"? Fine him and suspend him. Anything less is a joke. [OCC] Rd-arrow-down_medium (20)
22 Nyg_medium 5-7 Man, those Super Bowl hangovers sure hang around, don't they? I hear there are Giants fans still obsessing over ways in which the Giants can make the playoffs. [OCC] Gn-arrow-up_medium (26)
23 Oak_medium 4-8 They started out strong in Dallas, jumping out to a two-TD lead, but when the Cowboys made some adjustments, the Raiders had no answer. [OCC] (23)
24
Buf_medium 4-8 There are places that are simply not meant for professional football. Toronto is one of them. Buffalo is the other. [OCC] Gn-arrow-up_medium (25)
25 Cle_medium 4-8 Losing to the Jaguars at home is just shameful. [OCC] Rd-arrow-down_medium (24)
26 Nyj_medium 5-7 The New York Jets have a passer rating of 60.9 for the season, the lowest in the league. If you want to know just how bad that is, consider that Tim Tebow's career passer rating is 75.3, and he doesn't have a job in the NFL. Neither should the Jets. [OCC] Rd-arrow-down_medium (22)
27 Min_medium 3-8-1 Does everybody understand just how good Adrian Peterson is? 10,000 career yards; possibly three seasons leading the NFL in rushing; a 5.0 career rushing average. But the Vikings have only three wins in twelve games. [OCC] Gn-arrow-up_medium (29)
28 Tb_medium 3-9 After three successive wins, Bucs fans thought their team had something going and hit the pause button on those #FireSchiano posts. A trip to - and a stomping in - Carolina put an end to all that. [OCC] Rd-arrow-down_medium (27)
29 Jac_medium 3-9 There were two bad teams on the field when the Jaguars went to Cleveland, but the Jaguars came away with the win. Their record says they are not the worst team anymore, and that's already something. But it could also mean bye-bye, Teddy Bridgewater. [OCC] Gn-arrow-up_medium (30)
30 Atl_medium 3-9 The Bills tried everything to give the Falcons the game, including turning the ball over on each of their final two possessions, but the Falcons still needed overtime to pull out a win. [OCC] Gn-arrow-up_medium (32)
31 Was_medium 3-9 Mike Shanahan is heading for his third season with double digit defeats in just four years. See you around, Shanny, it was nice having you visit in the NFC East. [OCC] Rd-arrow-down_medium (28)
32 Hou_medium 2-10 After last season, there were people predicting an Atlanta vs Houston Super Bowl for this season. Today, we can't rule out that those two teams will pick first and second in the draft. [OCC] Rd-arrow-down_medium (31)
