An Interesting thought on the draft.

I believe we, as Cowboys fans, are all in agreement on one thing.... we should either keep our draft picks or even possibly trade down so we can feed a depleted defense with MORE players so that we can have a much better year on that side of the ball. Playing devil's advocate, I'm going to outline a case for a different course of action and I'd like to hear what you think about this possibility..

ALTERNATIVE SCENARIO

We trade our first and third round picks, along with next year's 1st round pick to the St. Louis Rams for the 2nd pick in the draft.

We take JaDeveon Clowney.

With our second round we trade our second and sixth round picks to a late round team and take Trent Murphy. I say we trade UP with the 9ers this year and take him at 28-30 if available.

The draft is quickly over, taking CB/S Antone Exum in the fourth round. Exum is going to fall to us based on injury concerns after tearing his ACL. A great time to take Exum, while it is a risk, at least we are getting 3 first round projected picks.

In the fifth round Morgan Breslin falls due to injury concerns to the Cowboys, who are willing to take a chance on him.

We then let Demarcus walk, freeing up a lot of cap space to franchise Hatcher and resign Spencer at cost. The Defensive Line steps up huge this year with a great rotation featuring Hatcher, Spencer, Selvie, Crawford, Clowney, Murphy. The D Line pressure makes Claiborne look much better. Exum is healthy and a difference maker for the first half of the year. Scandrick is great in the slot and Carr, hopefully begins to play the ball better and with added pass rush QBs start making errant throws against us or throwing it away.

With the extra money from letting Demarcus go, the Cowboys rework some contracts and have extra money to make some things happen.

What do you think about possibly trading up for a great pick like Clowney?
