Kim Klement-US PRESSWIRE
Monday is mock draft day for our SB Nation friends over at Mocking The Draft, and despite the fact that we're in the middle of the Combine, they offer up a new mock draft to start the week.
We're barely half-way through the Combine, and while other draftniks are scrambling to incorporate the latest Combine info into their big boards and mock drafts, our appropriately named Mocking The Draft sister site on SB Nation bravely steps forward and delivers the first mock draft of the week.
Last week, MTD offered the Cowboys Alabama OT D.J. Fluker as the 18th pick, and the week before it was Oklahoma OT Lane Johnson. This week, in a mighty shakeup of the mock draft that sees DT Sheldon Richardson take the top spot ahead of DE Barkevious Mingo, the Cowboys find themselves with a prospect that hasn't yet been mocked their way this season, DE Bjoern Werner
The Dallas Cowboys are moving to a 4-3 defense, and what better way to start the construction of that new scheme than with Bjoern Werner of Florida State. Werner is not a lock for the top 10 and slides in this mock draft due to the number of 3-4 teams in need of pass rushers. Dallas won't mind the value, though.
I don't think the Cowboys could do anything wrong if they were to pick Mike Mayock's top ranked defensive end, but I would think the chances of that actually happening are pretty slim. Nevertheless, would you be happy with Werner as the Cowboys' top pick?
Oh, and his first name is correctly spelled Björn.
