The rush of the Combine has passed and draft boards are beginning to settle down after digesting the information overload from Indianapolis. And in its wake, new mock drafts are popping up that we need to look at. Our appropriately named Mocking The Draft sister site on SB Nation has made a habit of knocking out their mock drafts on Monday, and have recently begun mocking some of the top names in this year's draft class the Cowboys' way.
Last week, MTD had the Cowboys selecting DE Bjoern Werner. A litte further back, they had the Cowboys taking OT Lane Johnson. This week sees another top prospect drop to the Cowboys in the form of Alabama guard Chance Warmack:
The Cowboys' offensive line really hindered them last season. Tony Romo did his best to escape from behind the constant pressure from opposing defenses, but the interior of Dallas' offensive line needs an upgrade. Enter Chance Warmack, the best offensive guard in the draft.
Warmack is the top guard on many boards, and many mocks have him going a lot higher than the 18th pick. However, since 2000, no guard has been taken higher than 15th, and only four guards have been taken higher than the 18th spot, so MTD at least has history on its side with this pick for the Cowboys.
In this mock, the Cowboys find themselves in the enviable position of getting to choose between Chance Warmack, Jonathan Cooper (20th to the Bears) and D.J. Fluker (21st to the Bengals).
Which of the three offensive linemen would you have picked for the Cowboys?
