In light of the Cowboy's recent ploy to restructure Free's contract, I got to thinking about a scenario that hasn't been mentioned. I wonder if there are any intentions of moving him inside to guard.
This scenario combined with drafting a guard and picking up a FA tackle would leave the Cowboy's OL looking like:
Tron, Rookie (Cooper/ Warmack), Costa, Free, Winston/Clabo.
This would leave Parnell as a swing tackle and any combination of Cook/Koswalski, Bernie, Livings, Arkin, or other to fill in the middle.
Given that Free could be counted on to play either tackle spot for a quarter or two in a severe emergency, it would allow the team to bring less lineman to the game and use the space on the 45 man game day roster for another position.
The question is, if Free reduces his salary to a reasonable level, would it make sense to move him inside - and could he play the position well?
