The Dallas Cowboys selected one Offensive Lineman in this year's draft. Center Travis Frederick from Wisconsin was taken 31st overall. Many are unhappy with lack of pounds that was added in this year's draft. Frederick is a good pick. He is aggressive and has pretty good technique once I put on the tape and saw. He has a lack of athleticism. If you need your center to be athletic than go study basketball. Travis "Travvy" Frederick does an excellent job of getting to the second level. Watch the tape on the Rose Bowl if you would like to see for yourself.
The Dallas Cowboys front office is not stupid. Tony Romo has an uncanny ability to make plays with his legs. Not necessarily scrambling for first downs or big plays. But he has great pocket presence and can stretch the pocket and add valuable time he needs to get the ball out of his hand.
By drafting a center this allows both Demarco and Joseph "JOJO" Randle to run between the tackles and rack up some nice yardage. This also allows Tony Romo time to throw without seeing a line backer come through the middle and watch Tony curl sideways into a ball and fall to the turf. Something were all too accustomed to seeing. So I want us all to watch for one thing this training camp and pre season. When Tony gets pressured and has to get the ball off, it will be from the side. Probably the right side too. Tyron Smith has his blind side. Tony will see the pressure. Step up in the pocket and throw 60 yard touchdowns to Terrance Williams or Dez Bryant or find Jason Witten down the seam. The Offensive Line improved. You just have to put on the tape and look.
