I would like to share a little story with you. Today I was at work. I was walking around through the dining room (where the customers eat) and was asked to walk around and mingle with some of the customers. So I was walking, sparking some conversations with a few people. I met a Retired Air Force Veteran and we talked for a while about how i to am joining the United States Air Force. I than noticed a man wearing a Dallas Cowboys hat. You can imagine my excitement when I saw this. There aren't very many Dallas Cowboys in the Northern Californian area. Especially after the 49ers recent success. Anyways I walk over to him and ask if you are a Dallas Cowboys fan he replies "Yes. Of course." I reply "Did you like the draft?" He replied "Nope."
I asked him why not. His reasoning was that we took the center way too early. Those words echoed in my head the remaining of the night. The center. The center. The center. You have to be joking me right? He did not even know Travis Frederick's name. The first round selection and you refer to him as "the center?"
Since O.C.C does not like foul language let me just say that really "grinds my gears." I really hate the fascination with people thinking if your not taking a big name player your not getting anything. If people would take the time to actually look up a player. A player's tapes, stats, etc there would be less ignorant people in this world. I have constantly been asked by my co workers what the heck were you guys (Dallas Cowboys) thinking? I was fed up today and replied and said "you'll see."
Our friend BirdDog26 was quoted saying that he knows for a fact that Travis Frederick would not go past 34 to the Titans. So all this talk about him being available 30 picks later is total ridiculous. The Dallas Cowboys added offensive weapons, the best center that could be added on the roster this off season, and an extra corner to replace Mike Jenkins and a Safety that lets face it, is a monster with great catching ability. Oh and we upgraded from Felix Jones. So just because someone does not know who a player is or he didn't play for a major college does not mean the kid can't play. Watch. You'll see.
I would like to take this time to thank all the fans that do their homework, watch tapes and strive to become a smarter student of the game. I look forward to our future intelligent conversations together. GO BIG D!!
