The Only Team Left Out

The Dallas Cowboy have played in four division championship games in recent memory. Keep in mind these were all played in week 17. First in 2008, 2009 and than followed by 2011 and 2012. Let us take a look back.

In 2008 the Dallas Cowboys played an away game in Philadelphia for a playoff berth and division championship. The Cowboys would lose, 44-6. In 2009 the Cowboys would have their chance at revenge on the Eagles hosting them in week 17 for the division championship and home field against the other the following week in the Wild Card round. The Cowboys would prevail 24-0 and win the next week.

That so far makes the Cowboys 1-1 in division championship games. Not too bad.

In 2011, the Cowboys would be matched up with New York Giants in the Meadowlands. Once again for the division and the playoffs. But the Cowboys would lose in a less than noble effort 31-14.

In 2012, the Cowboys were on the road against the Washington Redskins once again, week 17, division championship game. The Cowboys lose 28-18.

That makes the Cowboys record 1-3 in these division championship games. The only win coming at home. I find it a bit ridiculous as well that we seem to always be on the road in week 17. Except this year, we are home against the Eagles. Wait! The Eagles? We got this.

No but seriously if the Dallas Cowboys want to make this as painless as possible just play solid through out the entire year. Don't start strong and end weak. Don't win three games than drop two. Don't relax. Don't be satisfied with just good enough. Hold yourself accountable. Be a team. Take care of your body. Study every bit of film. Do not let the Redskins, The Giants or the Eagles talk smack about you to the media and let them get away with it. Count on the other teams to trip up and make a mistake. Because the teams in this division as a whole are too inconsistent. Don't be that team. Because I know I speak for every single Dallas Cowboys fan when I say we will not accept a loss again. We have lost to every team in this division in a division clinching game, Do you notice we are the team always playing in it? We are always consistent. We just have to get over the hump. And you can get over the hump by just playing good through out. And not face a division clinching game. Lets clinch the division in week 14. That's the goal.
