What Makes Blogging the Boys so Great

Many of you have read nineinchnate's fanpost about the decline of BtB. While he did have some good points, I believe he overlooked 5 key attributes that make Blogging the Boys so great. These are the attributes that I'd like to point out today. Before you starting reading this, I would like to say this is not a reprisal to the aforementioned fanpost. This is just my views on what makes Blogging the Boys the best website for Dallas Cowboys news and insights.

1. Blogging the Boys is a community. This is what really makes us different from every other Dallas Cowboys website. As a community, we know many of the other fans on BtB which makes our conversations in the comments all the more interesting and deep. The less knowledgeable fans are able to learn from the older fans and the fans that work for football organizations. The FPWs are constantly striving for us to grow as a community (as witnessed by the twitter handle exchange in KD Drummond's latest article) but we do recognize that there will always be room for improvement as people are constantly joining Blogging the Boys.

2. Another reason why BtB is so unique is the front page writers' involvement in the community. If you need a question answered, they or another fan will answer it. They will, on occasion, comment on a fanpost when they can manage the time and they are very open to suggestion on how to improve BtB.

3. Thirdly, the majority of the front page writers and the community as a whole are overly optimistic about the Cowboys. In essence, they're Kool-Aid drinkers. If you've ever read a pessimistic writer's outtake on how the 'Boys are going to fare this season, you would probably come away disheartened or wondering how a article could be so horrible. Thus, it is beneficial to have uplifting FPWs and fans. While this attribute does work in our favor, it can also work against us. When we encounter a pessimistic fan we are quick to condemn him. However, the pros outweigh the cons so this one works in our favor.

4. One of the most important attributes that the front page writers have is the ability to see things differently. Tom says it best in his latest article "Lazy thinking is exactly what I am fighting against when I take on articles that present an overly simplified view of the way the Cowboys work. I will admit that I don't know if things will work out for Dallas, but when I try to understand the entire picture, with all the shadings of gray involved, I find I believe in the discipline and hard, sweating effort that Garrett, the coaches, and the players are bringing to the table. And I will cheer like mad for them to succeed."

5. Finally, Blogging the Boys is the best Dallas Cowboys site out there because of its willingness to improve. This ties in with us being a community and the FPWs being part of that community. Anything that will increase the enjoyability of the site is added. For example, they have recently added editable and collapsible comments which have made reading comments much easier.

6. *BONUS* Before I finish, I would like to add that the FPWs and especially the mods do a great job of making this site what it is. The troller's and perv's comments are quickly vanquished and we have you to thank for that. You guys are the Best! Keep up the good work.
