Lame Stream Media

I should start this by saying that although I am a longtime member here, as far as reading articles & even commenting, this will only have been my 3rd fanpost. There was an initial promise that there would be more to come but I have found it hard to follow through on that. Today's fanpost, like my previous two, is going to be done on the fly. I usually like to write about recent events & have very little time to do much re-searching as say a Dr.P or Scarlet O would most certainly do in one of their respectable fan posts. Luckily for me, my fanpost today doesn't require much re-searching, as it has to do with the lame stream media, & all you have to do for any proof is visit one of their sites.

For instance, as hard as it will be to make your fingers type this in your web browser, visit EspnDallas today. You will find an article by one of the worst "writers" in all of sports journalism, he goes by the name Calvin Watkins. The title is something like "why Romo should play in the HOF game". Now it will help you to know that earlier today, as seen here on a BTB article, Jason Garrett MENTIONED THE POSSIBILITY of Romo not playing in the HOF game. Citing a few very reasonable thoughts as to why he MAY not play. You know cuz he missed all of OTA's & mini camp due to having a cyst removed from his back. Reasons like that, and the fact that we have 5 preseason games this year so they feel like they have an extra game to work with. Seems like the smart approach as many in the comments section, including myself, tended to agree with.

Wouldn't you know it, 30 mins or so goes by, and Calvin Watkins has "penned" an "article" about why Romo SHOULD play in the HOF game. I'm starting to think they are simply being paid to question every move this head coach makes. I mean it's quite unreal, this seems like the easiset decision most Cowboys fans & even the mediots should be able to agree on. Why play him for any amount of time at all when the guy has had 5 TC practices only this offseason? I'm sure you could come up with some kind of argument that could make it seem reasonable to play him, and Calvin does his best(i guess) to do so. Citing the new Center & Romo getting work with him, and a few other less notable reasons to play him in that game. But I think Garrett has the right idea, one which Watkins even says is the "safer decision". DUH! Really Cal!?

The timing is what is really hiliarious about all of this, because it went something like... Garrett says Romo MAY not play in HOF game. Then there is a small article put out on EPSNDallas, cant remember by who, probably Watkins or JJT, citing a "source" saying Romo WANTS to play in the HOF game. Wouldn't you know it, within minutes Calvin has his "article" up about how Tony SHOULD play (ignoring the fact that a defenitive decision still hasn't been made one way or another). Then I shoot over to yahoo's NFL home page, and a small link shows up that simply says....More Romo Drama in Dallas.

Are you flipping kidding me! This is now DRAMA? Coach says a QB MAY not play in the first of 5 pre-season games, when he's coming of a surgery albeit a minor one. Predictably the player in question, ever the competitor, says he wants to play even though it's just pre-season game 1, and now there is "more Romo Drama in Dallas". Give me a break, at this point it wouldn't shock me in the least to see Watkins pen an article that says "Cowboys should try to go 0-16" in a response to Garrett saying something like our goal every year should be to compete for the super bowl. If Garrett said Romo would play in the HOF game, Watkins would have said He shouldn't play him & it's to risky.

Yet these same "journalists", the Watkins, McMahon's & JJT's of the world, cant figure out why Garrett is so Robotic when dealing with them? Tells his players to be humble & boring in their interviews with the media. Perhaps it's because when Coach Garrett is at the podium he gets hit with questions from the lame stream media like "Jason, do you think you're boring?"
