Last week I asked all of you who would be the biggest impact player outside of the obvious big guns. I listed Cole Beasley, James Hanna, Terrance Williams, Dwayne Harris and Gavin Escobar. Beasley wasn't even active, as it turned out. Williams had one long catch and a few notable errors. Hopefully he bought Murray a steak dinner for saving that TD. Escobar had a catch. Hanna had none. But Dwayne Harris shone through as NFC Special Team Player of the Week.
This week we add the greatly anticipated, Dallas version of Darren Sproles, the one and only.....
Lance Dunbar. Given that Dunbar is the shiniest of new toys, coming off an eye-catching preseason, I'm anticipating a landslide for Lance. But in terms of total game impact, Harris might be tough to vote against, especially if he earned more offensive snaps with his fantastic special teams contributions.
I would have thought he earned those offensive snaps last year, by ranking second in punt returns. However, I have a strong suspicion that a certain GM is still justifying his first round trade-down. Hence the surprising number of targets for Williams who was acquired with that extra third round pick.
Then again, maybe the coaches and scouts know what they are doing and Williams will have a coming out party against the Chiefs while Harris watches from the sidelines. Who knows.
Once thing we can all agree on, this team will need to punish KC far more effectively for doubling Dez than they did against the Giants. Which makes the X factor players all the more important this week. Who are you expecting to step up and why? Also, please reference sports psychology, physics, chaos theory or quantum mechanics in your answer. Our fans are smarter than their fans and we need to show it.
