My observations

and I am not an expert by any means, just a fan for over 50 years and I don't have time to rewatch the game or even key plays.

The defense is pretty solid with the potential to be special. The DL is suffering from a lack of depth and the ability to rotate key players (particularly Ware) at critical times during the game. Spencer returning to form and Rat's return will make us only stronger. We also have depth problems at cornerback until we get confident in Webb. Safeties played well Sunday particularly against the run between the first and last series. LB's are a strength although stopping the read option and playing pass defense put them in some bad spots.

Ol is suffering from a lack of stability resulting in inconsistent play. As Waters becomes more of a full-time player this will improve and the OL will become a strength. This inconsistency has hurt the running game the most. As I understand it, zone blocking is supposed to give the running back options for cut back lanes. It appeared Sunday that the backs were having a hard time finding the lanes or making a decision and then running into the pile. Romo has too much time! Never thought I'd say that. He seems to be waiting for the perfect target until he is forced to choose the check-down. He was good early and then became more cautious later. The receivers (other than Dez and Miles) need to be more aggressive to the ball or Romo needs to get it to them quicker.

Special teams are solid for the most part.

Coaching is good in preparation. Think the offensive coaches need to become more confident in their players. Their play calling seems to be more concerned with not making mistakes than attacking the defense (a very good Chief's defense as the Chiefs posters warned us during the week). Clock management with less than 5 minutes left a lot to be desired but part of that hinged on the defense making the stop.

Bottom line, this is still a much improved Cowboy team finding its way. This game was no Seattle 2012 (although you might think it was reading yesterday evening's posts). I'm looking forward to the rest of the season and expect to be playing in January.
