Thought I would try to compare last year's roster to this one. The players are sorted by games played, then games started, then first names.
What are your observations?
The biggest difference is that with better health, we hopefully won't need to go through 65 guys, and will get lots more games out of Lee, Carter, Scandrick, Murray, and even Ratliff (who missed 10 games).
I think that the replacement guys are almost always an upgrade. I like Leary over Livings, Escobar over Phillips, Dunbar/Randle over Jones, Smith over Vickers, Holloman over Butler, Allen over Sensabaugh, Williams over Ogletree, Frederick over Cook, Durant over Connor, Wilcox over Peprah, Bosworth over Poppinga.
Only a few might go the other way: Jenkins had much more experience than BW Webb. Spears had more experience than Cohen. There's no "run stopper" like Coleman, but then this is a defense predicated on speed.
I hope they start Free/Parnell rather than Bernardeau/Free, as I think the former will get better as the year goes on, but the latter might get worse (because I don't trust Bernie at all).
Offsetting the upgrades is the several of the skilled vets are another year on the wrong side of 30 -- Romo, Ware, Hatcher, Ratliff, and Witten. I didn't have room to post the ages, but overall the team is getting younger as it improves.
Overall, I like this roster a LOT more than last year's. It's not perfect, but I can see the team being in the top-10 on both offense and defense.
