I have been complaining since the announcement of Monte Kiffin as our new DC, that the 4-3 zone defense was a mistake for our team. Sure the cover 2 did wonders for Tampa Bay and consequently for Chicago, but those teams had a different type of CB that they drafted and utilized. The problems that Carr and Claiborne suffered this past year are well documented, and the solution seems easy. As the year progressed, we started playing man to man more often and the results were obvious. We paid alot of free agent money and invested a king's ransom in the draft for cornerbacks known for the press coverage abilities. While in today's NFL, occasionally running a zone defense might be warranted, I personally hate any scenario where an opponent's WR is streaking down the field and our CB's are still around the line of scrimmage. It is easy for us to theorize that our defensive staff has learned it's lesson, but if that was the case, I would think we would have started playing more man, specifically PRESS MAN alot sooner. Scandrick, even played well in man to man coverage. The real question is, will we use it more this upcoming year, what do you think BTB?
