Per Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the New Miami Dolphins GM is taking offers for last years third overall pick, Dion Jordan, the Defensive End from Oregon. PFF ranked him as having an atrocious season and even called him a bust. But for many reasons, this could make a lot of sense.
If you remember right, the cowboys had Jordan ranked in the first round, and even as a top 3 pick. So the scouts and coaches definitely see tremendous talent there. He's a fast player and that is what this defense is about. And although he had a terrible year, think of what coaching from Rod would do for him.
Now what would it take to get Jordan. I doubt that Miami could expect a first in return. I would offer something along the lines of offering them our 3rd and one of our 7ths this year, our 3rd next year, and Phil Costa. Miami is desperate for O line help, and Costa would make for a decent starter or great backup for that line. I think a 2nd rounder this year is to valuable with the amazing depth of this years class. There is a little leeway and we could offer a little more, but I think its pretty fair considering the year Jordan had last year.
Jordan could increase the depth of our d line tremendously, if Rod is able to work his magic. He could replace Ware on the Right side and be good for our future, our could at the very least be good rotation with Selvie and Ware and for the future. I may be undershooting what the Dolphins want back for Jordan, but I think it's a route that Jerry and Co. should definitely look into.
