If you've grown tired of the saturation-level coverage of Aaron Donald and the other defensive tackles in this year's draft, SB Nation has just the right mock draft for you. Let's see how you like it.
For their last few mock drafts, SB Nation's Dan Kadar and Matthew Fairburn have been alternating defensive lineman for the Cowboys. In today's mock, the first defensive tackle is picked by the Patriots at number 29 in the form of Louis Nix. He is followed by Ra'Shede Hageman at No. 30 to the 49ers and Aaron Donald to the Broncos at 31. All other defensive tackles fall to the second round in this mock.
At No. 16, the Cowboys pick cornerback Bradley Roby out of Ohio State.
The Cowboys' struggles in the secondary were plainly obvious toward the end of the 2013 season. Multiple upgrades are needed, and Bradley Roby would be a nice place to start. He has the athletic upside to be a shutdown corner, but his floor is as a quality starter in the NFL.
The Cowboys, and fans of defensive tackles, get lucky in the second round when FSU's Timmy Jernigan unexpectedly is still available at No. 48.
is just the type of gap-shooting defensive tackle the Cowboys need in their four-man front. He's a steal at this spot.
You never know how the draft falls, and more importantly, you don't know what the Cowboys draft board looks like (until after the draft), so it's far from a foregone conclusion that the Cowboys will draft a DT with their first pick. But a corner in the first, would you be cool with that?
