As of a few minutes ago. I checked the poll in a post I wrote on whether Jason Garrett should get a contract extension. It surprised me to see that 65% of the voters voted to give Jason Garrett an Extension right now. I figured my opinion would be in the minority. Some people just don't like Garrett, and I get that, so I wasn't surprised by the number that said "don't extend him". But the biggest surprise to me was the difference between "Yes" and "wait until after the season". I obviously voted yes for my own poll, but was surprised how many people voted the same way. I thought when writing the article that many more would have voted to wait to see what the season holds.
I can see that groups points. Why give an extension when you don't have too. So I don't mind that. But if you read a lot of the writers on ESPN Dallas, and other media outlets, think it's a playoff or bust year. I don't agree. I think that if they make the playoffs, Garrett definitely gets extended and the coordinators come back. If they don't make the playoffs but are playing for it at the end of the season, I still think Garrett gets an extension. I don't think this is a "win or go home" season for JG. It's just a "keep doing what you're doing and we'll talk at the end of the season" season. Jerry wants to keep Jason. And I don't think it's a bad idea to wait, I'm just in the group that would go ahead and do it now.
The media in this town needs drama. They thrive with it. They have to make us "the masses" think that they are the experts and that they know what Jerry is thinking. Does anyone know what Jerry is thinking?
