We've hit many of the possible draft scenarios here at BTB. But here's one we havent touched upon. How would you feel about this?
With all the primary defensive targets off the board at #16 (Donald, Barr, Mosley, Dix, Pryor, etc.) Dallas is forced to take OT Zack Martin. It's a position of need, Dallas has him as the highest raking player on the board, and they don't think twice. They can address DL in the second round.
Between rounds one and two Dallas sees Nix, Hageman, Jernigan, Ford, Crichton, Tuitt, Murphy, Easley, and Attacochu get swiped. They strongly consider Will Sutton, but have WR Jordan Matthews with a late first round grade. They stay true to their board and take him.
You see where this is going. Next Van Noy, Sutton, Ferguson, and DaQuan Jones are all gone. But Tre Mason is there. With Murray a FA after the season and Dallas's newly found fiscal responsibility, this might make a ton of sense to start grooming his replacement. Good value here.
More DLinemen, Linebackers and Safeties are gone in the 4th and Dallas takes a falling OG Cyril Richardson.
Not what we were expecting, but not a bad haul 1-4. How would you feel about this draft?
1 - OT Martin
2 - WR Matthews
3 - RB Mason
4 - OG Richardson
Our last ranked defense would be even worse. Our offense, however, could be set for years to come. Potentially two upgrades to the offensive line. A WR who would probably move Williams to the slot, and a RB who could back-up and eventually take over for Murray. That would be one stacked offense. Reminiscent of some Saints teams of recent years. Might be fun to watch at least.
