My Alternate Cowboy's Draft

Round 1: I would really like to trade up to get Aaron Donald, but the price was too steep. Then the Steelers made an excellent pick, to steal Shazier from me. Can't find any partners to trade down. With the 16th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select, Calvin Pryor, Safety, Louisville.

Round 2: Got an offer to move up to 34. Don't want to give up my 3rd rounder. Think I'll trust my board and let the draft come to me. If Demarcus falls to me I take him. If not, I'm going Kony Ealy, DE, Missouri.

Round 3: I have some choices here. Think I'll go Guard and take Gabe Jackson, OG, Miss St.

Round 4: I can't believe AJ McCarron is still here. I run to the podium with my card.

Round 5: Still letting the draft come to me. Not trading up. With my pick here I'm taking DT Caraun Reid, Princeton.

It's a long wait to the 7th Round.

Round 7:

14 - Brandon Coleman WR Rutgers

16 - Ben Gardner DE Stanford

23 - Tevin Reese WR Baylor

33 - Ahmad Dixon SS Baylor

36 - Kelcey Quarles DT South Carolina

39 - Terrance Mitchell CB Oregon

The instant the draft is over, I'm signing UDF's:

Ryan Groy OG Wisconsin

Christian Jones ILB Florida St.

Ken Bishop DT Northern Illinois

Anthony Hitchens OLB Iowa

Ben Malena RB Texas A&M

Chris Whaley DT Texas

Shayne Skov LB Stanford

Antonio Richardson OT Tennessee

Gabe Ikard C Oklahoma

Luke Lucas OT Kansas St.

Marcel Jensen TE Fresno St

Jackson Jeffcoat DE Texas

Loucheiz Purifoy CB Florida

Marcus Roberson CB Florida

Carrington Byndom CB Texas

My pick in each round was selected after Dallas selected so they would most likely still be there, even with my alternate picks in previous rounds. I can't believe how many good players went undrafted.

So I got a starting safety, a potential starting DE, a starting guard, a developmental QB, a rotational DT, then a second DE and DT to rotate and potentially start in a few seasons, 2 backup WR's and a SS and CB to compete.

So I didn't waste my first round pick on a Guard, when I could have gotten one in round 3. Still got a good DE without trading away a pick. Didn't reach for a 7th Rounder in Round 4. Didn't move up for a WR in a super deep WR class giving me a DT and an extra 7th Rounder.

So, how'd I do?
