Is Henry Melton a long shot?

I grow tired of the meme that Melton is coming off a "serious" injury and is a long shot to return to form. This is not your Grandfathers ACL people. We have new tech and rehab methods that make full recovery very likely for anyone willing to put in the work at rehab. You can read up for yourself about the procedure here. http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/anterior-cruciate-ligament-acl-surgery

I was also able to get a picture of his preparing for Witten's runs on Monday that prove his progress is on track.

Look, jokes aside, the facts are that he is almost 100%. There have been no set backs in his rehab and he's at the end of his rehab, not the middle. Complications happen in the beginning, not the end of rehab.

Another poster, who's opinions I respect, challenged that Melton's contract was proof there was much doubt. I thought it was worth a FP to explain why this is not true. The actual terms of his deal show that it's a win/win. He believes in himself and his rehab, so he took a deal that will pay him well when he proves it.

And a Cowboys team that has been recently crushed by taking a risk on injured players is protected. There is no loser in this contract. Melton will return to the probowl soon.

Henry Melton is betting on himself, because he knows he'll win the bet. He could have held off on signing until he was further along to get a max deal. He could have taken another offer. Instead, he chose to return to play for Rod, because he know's it's where he'll be his best and still reach the max deal.

The defensive tackle signed a contract with the Dallas Cowboys that will pay him $5 million in 2014. If he is on the roster on the first day of the 2015 league year, three more seasons will kick in at $8 million per year, with $9 million guaranteed in 2015, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday, per a source who’s seen the deal.

What that means is if Melton returns to his 2011-to-2012 form — when he had 68 tackles and 13 sacks in two seasons before suffering an ACL injury in 2013 — he will remain on the Cowboys’ roster. At that point his contract essentially will become a four-year deal worth $29 million with $14 million guaranteed, a person who has seen the deal told Rapoport.

The $29 million number would put Melton north of what Michael Bennett ($28.5 million) signed to remain in Seattle and the older Jason Hatcher ($27.5 million) signed in Washington — two defensive linemen Around The League ranked ahead of Melton on our original top 101 free-agent list.

It’s a very fair deal both ways, if he pans out, he gets paid big. If he does not, we’re not on the ropes. And, he’ll be a FA again in a year free to go after another big deal if we don’t keep him. Low risk/high reward for both sides.

So what do you think? Is this more BWaj22 face slapping with my own spleen worthy spin, or am I onto something?
