Can somebody help explain to me the defense

I need help explaining why everybody is so concerned with our defense and believe we have completely messed up this draft (and free agency ) by not doing more for our defense.

I guess I just recall things differently.

I recall a defense that actually kept us in most games, but just tired down in the 4th quarter, after our offense went 3 and out and put our defense on the field too many times. We actually had one of the stingiest defenses through the first half of games, only to turn into a bottom half of the league team by the middle of the 3rd quarter.

Do any of you that believe we whiffed and did not address or biggest perceived need (Defense) not think that adding a running back of Elliots caliber will help to sustain drives, thus keeping our defense rested and ready?

You do know that the defense we are going to put on the field in 2016 SHOULD be better than the same defense that we almost rode to the championship game in 2014 season?

Is that not going to be good enough to take this all the way?

Also, don't be surprised to see Jaylon Smith playing in December. He is ahead of schedule in his rehab and is showing he is as much of a freak in the recovery room as he is on the football field.

One of the most important things to take out of the last two drafts is this:

We have basically taken 5 first round players in the last 2 years! That is just crazy!

It is unheard of to add that many top first round talents. I suppose the jury is still out on Gregory, but that guy can get to the QB and he will silence the doubters soon enough. He remind me of Vonn Miller; Miller had drug issues and was down to his last chance before a one year suspension would be imposed. Have you heard of any issues with MIller or even remember that he had those issues?

Gregory is a smart man. I know there are a lot of people that love to judge others as opposed to looking at themselves in the mirror , and they think Gregory is a headcase who will never be a player in this league, but you just watch what he starts doing this year. By the end of this season the lights WILL come on for Gregory, and our defense WILL be a top 12 defense, which is good enough when you add in what our offense is capable of.

2 years, 5 players with mostly top 10 talent:

Elliot ( Top 10 talent)

Jaylon Smith ( top 5 talent)

Gregory ( considered top 5)

Jones (first round talent)

Collins ( top 15 talent)
