Super Bowl-bound

P. King has us going to the Super Bowl, where we will play the Patriots.

All I can say is... now that's a real journalist! LOL...

Actually, I'm not a big fan of Peter "Let's Talk About Every Other Thing in the World Except Football " King. But I agree that the 'Boys got a serious chance to go to the show. As good as chance as anybody else. And he said we'd win too.

Good for the ego. Bad for the karma gods of football. King is absolutely a karma-killing machine when he picks you to win the Super Bowl before the season.

Last year? He went with Minnesota and New England.

Good one, genius. Can't wait for the sex boat party Terry Glenn throws for T.O.

Also, I heard former Deadskin RB Timmy Smith went to the bighouse recently on cocaine charges. Not to mention Sean Taylor is dealing with his own legal issues. Is it wrong to wallow in these Deadskin misshaps? I know they did, do and will continue to monitor the T.O. situation for a chance to gloat. Does that justify my gleefulness (is that a word?) that they're in the news for all the wrong reasons?

I don't know. I'll have to get back to you after I stop laughing.

Damn, beat me too it
I just posted a diary about this and didn't realize you had too. Anyways, the big question for me is will this turn into a curse like it did for the Vikings or is it a harbinger of good things to come.

For me, King is the authoratative voice on the NFL so I put a lot of credence into what he says.  If we implode because of a sex boating scandal, the I'm done with Peter. As of now, though, I think this is great news.

well...
the way I see it the Cowboys have as much talent as anyone in the league and if Parcells is one of the best coaches of all time, we actually should win the SB barring major injuries or a complete meltdown of the O line again.

King is a respected journalist and he knows the Cowboys are loaded this year.

i read p. king faithfully...
but he's one of those "i don't like this athlete" type of reporters who thinks its their duty to exclaim to us who's his buddy and who's  not...he also whines too damn much about people not calling him back...do your job, dude...don't whine about your inability to do it...not to mention the fact....it's hard for me to respect anybody that writes a DETAILED account of their colonoscopy in their supposed FOOTBALL column...that's just obscene...

Tempering the predictions
I am not convinved that it is possible to accurately predict in the pre-season the superbowl winner. Too many factors such as injuries every year take out true contenders. How many even predicted Pittsburgh to survive Denver in Denver? Or Indy losing at home?

I like that the Cowboys have a loaded roster and a great coach and a shot. It may take several years with this roster to get there and/or win it. It might come together this year and we stay up there another year or two. It simply feels good to be talked about and have a reasonable chance to compete. The next stage in the season is signing the veterans before they become free agents. That may affect the season as well>
