Cowboys acquire WR in trade with Denver

But it's not Ashley Lelie. From the Mosley blog:

The Cowboys acquired Charlie Adams from the Broncos for a sixth-round pick in 2007 on Thursday. Adams, 6-2, 190 pounds, is in his fourth year and has caught 21 passes for 203 yards last season. He has also averaged 9.7 yards on 18 punt returns, including two for more than 30 yards, and 21.8 yards on 10 kickoff returns.

Adams was an undrafted free agent out of Hofstra in 2002 and spent most of his first two years on the practice squad. In 45 games at Hofstra he caught 159 passes for 2,649 yards and 26 touchdowns. Despite missing three games as a senior he caught 50 passes for 937 yards and nine scores.

Also, Mosley has a good practice report that is starting to look a lot like practice reports someone else used to do, although still not as detailed. At least they're starting to give us some more information. Oh yeah, Mosley mentions the Habit Burger Grill in Oxnard, he's right; they have great burgers, I ate lunch there almost every other day while I was at camp.

..and they have to use a draft pick to get a guy. I certainly hope he's better than Hurd or Rector. Or does this mean the practice squad for Green.

Charlie Adams

This is what Sporting News Scouting Guide says about the guy:

"A tall player and good route runner. Plays under control and has very good balance and awareness. Not very fast or quick and lacks strength. A quality backup because he understands the game, is coachable and has punt and kickoff return ability."

Sounds like a Parcells guy to me.

We have an punt returner

The scoop I can find on Charlie Adams is that he is an excellent punt returner (but not primary) and pretty good 3rd receiver last year for Denver. I do wonder about Green's future. Or do we need two? With some long returns on his resume he cannot be too slow. This is a good article:

Its a WR competition now!

I think the emergence of Hurd and the injuries to TO, Glenn, and Crayton contributes to this. With Hurd having so much potential and progressing so quickly, that is likely already 1 Rookie WR that makes the team. I don't think Green has shown enough at WR and hasn't been difference making as a returner, at least not enough to keep 2 rookie WRs on the same team. Its very likely that Green will get put on the PS. We should know a lot more within just a few weeks as we watch this thing evolve.
