Cowboys @ Saints Open Thread (Preseason)

Dallas Cowboys @ New Orleans Saints
Monday, August 21st, 2006
8:00 EST, TV: ESPN
Shreveport, LA

This is an open thread for real-time game chat.

I'm getting pumped up for this game, can't wait to see the defense in action again. Plus, how will Bledsoe look? Will we endure another week of Romo bandwagon jumping?

Sign in BTB regulars, let us know you're here. Chat will go on for the whole game.

Update [2006-8-21 21:33:6 by Grizz]: Wow, the Cowboys looked great in the first half. Drew Bledsoe looked fantastic, I think he was little pumped for this game. Chris Mortenson still hyping the QB controversy at halftime.

Deke has the stats:

Dallas--156 yards passing
--58 yards rushing

Saints--67 yards passing
--18 yards rushing

Dallas 17 Saints 0

Dallas 15 first downs
Saints 3 first downs

Drew Bledsoe 12/16 156 yds 2TDs
Terry Glenn 4/71 1TD
Jamaica Rector 3/32
Sam Hurd 3/30 1 TD

Terry Glenn and Sam Hurd made two sensational catches for TD's, but the Glenn catch was out of this world.

Looking forward to seeing...
our defense verus Bush, not just Ellis. If we can contain him, I'll be happy.

I expect both Bledsoe and Romo to play well.

I'm not worried
about the defense, that is going to be really good early and will only get better as the season goes on. The defense will be nothing but Vanilla, cant go by what this preseason game will show there especially when we will be playing the Saints during the season.

I'm interested in the Oline and the Oline only, thats what I'll be watching closely, because thats what will make or break our season.

Okay Cowboy fans
Is T.O. going to screw everything up again this year?

by Chris @ Blogging The Boys on Aug 21, 2006 6:28 PM CDT reply actions

Jerry just mentioned
the the Idiot (T.O) may not play Saturday night either at Texas stadium.

by Deke on Aug 21, 2006 6:28 PM CDT reply actions

Wide receivers out
With two of the top three receivers out of the game, I'm not going to expect a whole lot from the offense. My hope is that they don't make many mistakes.

by Rob Zuber on Aug 21, 2006 6:42 PM CDT reply actions

its not good
that we have two starting wideouts not getting the timing down, especially T.O, but the rookies are getting a really good look and a great opportunity to show what they can do, Hurd has stepped up so far but he's got to have a good game tonight, dropped two easy ones last week. Rector and Green have to show something tonight.

by Deke on Aug 21, 2006 6:46 PM CDT up reply actions

Hurd to the rescue!
I hope the kid comes thru tonight. He and Abram Elam are my pet projects this year.

It Columbo's
job to lose, IMO.

My concern is with the left tackle position, Flozell's knee, how is it going to hold up, seems to have some soreness and swelling, has to be a concern, if he goes down again this year, we might find our selves in the same peoblem as last year.

Looks like the trade that was talked about with New England trading the OT gorin for Shanle wont happen since he was traded to Arizona for a conditional draft pick.

I'll Be Looking for the Players #40-46
Bill said he had 39 players identified, and that after tonight's game he hoped to know players #40-46.

I have my list of 1-39, and I will be looking for the other seven tonight.

Drew looked sharp to, wish they could've stuck it in  the endzone, but a great drive down the field

Our O-Line
You know, I know our O-line isn't the best by any means, but you reall have to wonder after watching this O-line for 5 quarters if it isn't our Defense that just made them look bad.  They haven't looked too bad at all going against people wearing different colors.

Recovery
Nice recovery from the fumble for Romo.

Parcells should have played our defense against our offense for a better test tonight. :)

Beautiful pass
Austin was wide open, he either blew someone away or  that was busted coverage.

I like Kornheiser
during interviews, he doesn't hold any punches with Jerry, straight and to the point

Parcells
looks like he wants to yell at someone but can't because we're playing so well.

Wow
Sportscenter after the game is ludicrious. Stuart Scott seriously led off the Saints/Cowboys segment with "Did you see Bush's run last week?" They even showed his post-game interview. 7 yards, 4 rushes. Ugh.

I don't know
