Injury problems for the Jags

From the Times-Union:

Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Marcus Stroud, who has never missed a game in his five-year career, will likely miss the opener against the Dallas Cowboys Sunday after suffering a right ankle injury in practice Wednesday.

Stroud was on crutches Thursday with his right lower leg in a boot and seemed to be grimacing with each step.

This will be a huge factor in the game. If Stroud doesn't play, Dallas stands a much better chance of controlling the middle of the line, and protecting Drew Beldsoe.

The Jags MLB Mike Peterson returned to practice today, but they still aren't sure if he'll play.

Peterson will likely find out Friday whether he can play Sunday. That will likely depend on whether the knee swells up overnight after his workout.

Also, rookie tight end Marcedes Lewis has been limited in practice and probably can't play.

Injuries are a part of the game, so when they happen to the opposition, you have to take advantage of it. If Stroud and Peterson are limited or don't play, the Jaguars will be severely weakened up the middle on defense.

we could get lucky...
if Stroud and Peterson aren't at full strength. We need all the help we can get against those beasts.

And the hits just keep on comin'
Although he'll still play this Sunday, DB-Brian Williams was reported as having some "off the field" issues recently.

Jaguars CB Brian Williams was arrested on DUI charges Saturday.  Williams reportedly used racial slurs towards the cops who arrested him. The arrest won't necessarily keep Williams out of Sunday's game because he hasn't been convicted. Jacksonville may already be missing MLB Mike Peterson and DT Marcus Stroud.
