Cowboys random articles
Yes, I am finishing up the always highly anticipated film review. But if you can’t wait, I’ll give you the abridged version now. Terence Newman, Jacques Reeves, Nate Jones, Ken Hamlin and Roy Williams stunk. Close the book. But, if you want the full breakdown, it will come later today.

A big thanks to BTB-regulars Terry and Jordan for sharing their "at the game" experiences with us in the diaries.

Jim Reeves at the DFW S-T doesn’t think this defense will get fixed, but that we also won’t be playing the Patriots’ offense each week, either. It’s a pretty good article but the whole "Mr. Fix-It" angle is worn out and just seems petty now by the Dallas media.

Five reasons to be encouraged and five reasons to be discouraged after the New England game.

Grizz did Hatcher get more playing time
or am I imagining things?
Imagine this D-line when Tank gets back: Ratliff Tank Hatcher. That would be nasty.

Tim Cowlishaw article
Don't know if you saw this or posted this but Texas Tim has problems with Wade not adapting the defensive philosophy against a Pats offense heavy on passing.

I'm really not sure what would have happened if the cowboys played the pass more than the run. Its easy to argue after the fact that they should have done something different. But it seems like our D-line would have folded even earlier if they forced the run too often

I think Phillips had it right
We didn't have problems with first and second down. We had problems when we were in our nickel formation on third down when we were playing against the pass.
The problem was not the scheme more so than it was the players. Nate Jones just could not cover Welker to save his life, Hamlin and Roy kept on biting on play action (not sure why), and people were just missing assignments in general. The scheme is fine, our players needed to execute and they weren't.

Pats last TD
That everyone seemed to be calling "classless", was actually a no brainer by Belichick. Once Dallas called their final time out, the Pats couldn't run out the clock. They had no choice but to keep running plays. The TD was scored on 4th and goal, if they take a knee there the clock stops for change of possession. Obviously the likely hood of Dallas scoring twice in 23 seconds was beyond slim, but you can't call it classless to not run out the clock by taking a knee when it wasn't possible for the Pats to do so.
Or it was an "Eff You TD"...
If you look at the late TD against us in concert with the other "no brainer" late TD's this year...everyone in the "it was classless" corner may have a valid argument as this writer points out.
Kinda makes you go "Hmmmmmmm"
Surprised
the Pats didn't go for an on-sides kick and try to tack on a field goal.
Yeah, I saw that article
But in this case, they had a legit reason to keep running the ball since they couldn't run the clock out by taking a knee after the 'Boys took that final time out.

I forgot to mention
Bill Simmons, who wrote that article, is a huge Pats fan (and Celtics and Red Sox). He's not really an investigative reporter, but a blog writer from years ago who got a job with ESPN. Don't put much faith in anything he says as being gospel truth, he speaks from a fans perspective.

Plus he's been a cowboys basher for years
He used to rag on Irvin, then Jerry Jones, then Bledsoe and now W. Phillips. Can't talk much smack back to him either as Boston is in the middle of sports Utopia right now.
