Around SBN: Leandro Damiao Is Still Really Good

Cowboys random articles

Tony Romo now has 16 regular season games as a starter under his belt. They’ve been a pretty good 16 games. Dallas is 11-5 in those games and Romo has put up some gaudy stats. Todd Archer chronicles the journey, while Romo offers up this assessment:

"I think the questions now are different than what they were before," Romo said. "Could he play in this league before? Could he be the starter for a while before? Now it's whether or not you can be one of the upper-echelon guys in the league, the top guys. And that's a good thing, to obviously try to get to that point."

To be one of the upper-echelon guys you have to start games strong, Tony. Let’s see you go out this week and bury an opponent by halftime.

JJ and MB3 are splitting the carries almost 50/50.

Jones has rushed 69 times for 268 yards this season – 52 fewer carries and 256 fewer yards than the first six games of 2006.

Barber has 381 yards on 64 attempts, 21 more carries and 166 more yards than at the same point last year.

Last year, JJ got the majority of the carries, especially in the first part of the season. As the season wore on, Parcells started giving MB3 a lot more of the workload. It will be interesting to see what the current Cowboys staff does this year as we move on in the season.

Nice guy Terrell Owens gets not just one, but two articles about him being a team player.

Adrian Peterson, he’s good.

Brad Sham can’t decide yet if we are the team to beat in the NFC.

Sunday's heroes

Bradie James and Akin Ayodele.

Peterson will get his 100-120 yards, but that will not transale into enough points for them to win the game. Our offense will hang at least 28 on them.

Go Cowboys!

I don't think the slow starts are all Romo's

fault, Grizz, outside the Buffalo game of course. IMO, the play calling is the real reason for the slow starts. Teams gameplan us to stop JJ and MB3 early because they know Garrett likes to establish the run early in games.

I think Garrett should have Romo throwing early and often in this first qtr. Too often we come out and try to run on first and second down and wind up with 3rd and longs. I say early, only run when we need 2 or 3 yds for the first, otherwise cut Romo loose.

BTW, Romo's numbers over his first 16 games are really remarkable. If he keeps improving and getting better, he'll end up someday as the very best to play the position.

In Romo we Trust

Tank

Any news on Tank anyone??? I know he could apply for early reinstatement and Dave said we could hear as early as Wednesday...I have been scouring all the rumor mills and have heard nothing, although they did reinstate Koren Robinson. I would love to have him for the Iggles game.

First to six!!!

Personally,

I don't think we will get him until the Giants.  Of course, this is coming from John Clayton from ESPN.  I keep looking myself, but no luck.

I heard rumors that the Cowboys were trying to petition for him to at least only practice with the team a week earlier, but still not play until the Giants.  That is unconfirmed at this time!!

8 game suspension stands but he is cleared to practice.

thanks

thanks guys! I was hoping he would be back this week, but this is the next best thing, he will get a little over 2 weeks of getting to learn the system and become familiar before stepping in for a huge game at the Meadowlands. good stuff.

First to six!!!

Thanks for the link Burt D

I was a fan of getting Tank from the get go and am excited to see how he performs.  To get such fresh legs in November is awesome and I'd love to see him play hard and keep his nose clean in Dallas.  Even if Fergy comes back next year, he is pretty old.
