Time to talk Eagles
I admit to being a little slack in updating the blog over the past few days. I’ve been writing some guest columns at other places, had some things that messed up my schedule, and the whole Tony Romo signing has kind of blotted out the Eagles game in some respects. But not for long, it’s all about the Eagles now. Wade Phillips will have a press conference after practice today so we’ll hear what he’s got to say, plus the media talked to the players and T.O. in the locker room, so we’ll also check in on that later.
But the Philadelphia media is already talking up the return of T.O. In this article, the reporter asked Lito Sheppard about T.O. and his past with the Eagles.
"I think that relationship is kind of like when you have a girlfriend you used to love in the past, maybe high school," Lito Sheppard said Monday, "and you loved her so much, but you hate her so bad now. But you can't stop talking about it."
Oh, really? That's what it is like?
"I know, right?" Sheppard said, laughing.
Expect a warm welcome for the pod-person. Not!
Here’s another Philly article about how they stink at WR over the years.
During Andy Reid’s eight-plus seasons as the Eagles' head coach, his team has sent as many wide receivers to the Pro Bowl as it has long-snappers.
That number is one, and that wideout is, of course, Terrell Owens, whose stay in Philadelphia turned out to be short and anything but sweet.
Ha, one WR in eight seasons and that one is the guy they ran out of town and hate like an ex-girlfriend. This game should be fun.

If you want more about the Eagles, go to Bleeding Green Nation, our fine SB Nation Eagles blog.

Samsung is holding a weekly thing about Defining Moments for each weekend in the NFL. It’s tied into some ad campaign they are doing with sports sites and I am contributing my efforts because they are helping to support BTB with their ads. So this week, I wrote a piece that called the defining moment the second they blew the whistle to start the New England/Washington game. Go check it out and vote for my article because my ego always needs boosting.

ESPN posted a story about the greatest rivalries in the modern NFL. Of course, Dallas shows up, not once but twice, and we also hold the number one spot for our rivalry with the Deadskins.
Dallas vs. Washington (1970-83)
• Signature moment: On Dec. 12, 1979, Staubach threw two touchdown passes in the final 140 seconds to erase a 13-point deficit and give host Dallas a 35-34 win. The Redskins missed the playoffs with that defeat,
Dallas vs. San Francisco (1992-96)
• Signature moment: Dallas quarterback Troy Aikman hit Alvin Harper on a slant pass that turned into a 70-yard catch-and-run late in the 1992 NFC Championship Game. That play set up the game-clinching touchdown in the Cowboys' 30-20 win, setting up the Cowboys' first of three Super Bowl wins in the decade.

man
That Redskins game was just sad. First time I ever felt sorry for a division rival. 52-7? Even the Cleo Lemom-led Playing-for-2008 Dolphins put up more of a fight than that.

caution, only visit Bleeding Green Nation
if you don't mind being insulted by BleedGreen who posts over there.
He has up a post stating that Cowboys fans who are not from Dallas or live there are not real fans and described them as the most vile creatures on earth.
If you don't mind a good fight with the scum of the earth, go over and battle away with those morons.
yep
It's definitely division rivalry time :)

I saw your posts Terry
and I almost got an account to join the fight but decided it wasn't worth the 3 minutes it takes. Those guys are so pathetic - I mean, yes we are rivals and there is hatred but they are so obsessed and jealous of the boys that they are seriously heading into the psycho zone. That guy's arguement that you are not a "real" cowboys fan unless you live in Dallas is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of. Does that mean if I live in Nebraska I am not allowed to be an NFL fan because they don't have a team. Face it, their window is closing and they have zero rings to show for it. They are bitter and angry and are grasping at straws, now trying to say Romo will be a bust and the cowboys don't have real fans. Trying to have a logical football discussion with Eagles fans is like trying to teach ants to dance - It is useless and frustrating and you look crazy for even trying.
Pretty much king
Philly fans are beginning to realize that their franchise is collapsing, and are just taking their shots on the way down. I have your back Terry, as a die-hard boys fan since 1990 from Oregon (since I was 4), but they just aren't worth the time. Philly fans are irrational, they won't ever see things for what they really are.
On Philly filth and being a fan
Just when you think you couldn't detest Eagles fans more, you read crap like that. I guess the Eagles don't have a problem with a lot of people jumping on their bandwagon because few want to be associated with such petty, mean-spirited mouth-breathers.
I don't think anyone really loves true bandwagon fans, but if you stick with a team through good times and bad, you're not a bandwagon fan. There are a million reasons to pick a team to support, and I'm not trying to judge them. It's what you do once you start supporting them, not how you picked them, that matters.
I was born and raised in Dallas and moved to the DC area when I was 14. During that time I became a football fan and die-hard Cowboys fan, but I didn't really pay much attention to football until 1992, when things got good. I've loved them ever since and watched in horror as my family started rooting for the Redskins. So, I lived in Dallas and I'm from there, but I only started paying attention to football when Dallas was good. Does that make me a bandwagon fan, or a "frontrunner"? (BTW, I had never heard anyone use the word frontrunner in that context until about 3 weeks ago; now I see it everywhere. Am I alone on that one?) Isn't the fact that I've supported them through the 15 years after that, good or bad, regardless of where I've lived, the thing that matters? And wouldn't that be the same if I grew up in, say, Nebraska? Or LA?
On a related note, I live in NYC now. Any other New Yorkers here? If so, do you know a good Cowboys bar? They are hard to come by, in comparison to those for our evil NFC east brethren.
Cowboys MeetUps
Cool site that gives you meeting locations if you're not in the city where your favorite team is:
Thanks
I tried that place for a Sunday night game last year and nobody was there, but maybe it's just a night game thing since they're on everywhere for those.
Too Bad
I was hoping they would be a good source for info, and that was the only place listed for NYC. Darn.
Yeah, it's weird
I'm not sure why this is, because I know we're out there, but the Skins and Eagles have bars that are absolutely crazy in their level of support. I watched our game @ Washington last year at a Skins bar and it was one of the worst experiences of my sports fan life. Must be a geographical thing, or maybe I should give Stone Creek another try.
I can relate
I had to watch the game against NE in a sports bar, surrounded by Pats fans. Watching Dallas lose was bad enough, but listening to 15 people with Boston accents all day almost drove me to suicide.
I would recommend calling
some of the bigger sports bars in NYC. There are several good ones, and I would bet that at least one or two have a regular Cowboys contingent. Of course they'll all tell you to come on down, so you'll need to be creative to find out if they really have a regular Cowboys following. A few phone calls should net you what you're looking for.
True fans
I think the guy that said that only people who were born in Dallas or live in Dallas can be true Dallas fans is just worried about all of the Philly bandwagoners who have been deserting the team like rats from a sinking ship.
The Eagles have had a pretty good run. I don't think they have anything to be ashamed of, except the behavior of some of their fans.

I get that
all the time since i live in PA. I fight the good fight everyday. But its like talking to a wall philly fans are absolutely the worst
what part of PA??
I live in PA as well, city called Johnstown about 75 miles east of Pitt.
Gettysburg
I appreciate steeler fans so much more atleast they have class and understanding oh and something to back up their talk with haha
Steeler fans aren't quite as bad as Philly fans
but there not really that much better either.
Its kind of like arguing who is more evil, Satan or Hitler? They're pretty close to being the same and I find that with both Steeler and Philly fans.
Grizz, can you post links?
To the "guest articles" you've been writing? You reference the one, but seems like there are more?
I'm a Dallas fan from Jersey. Most people in northern Jersey / Jersey Shore are Giants fans, but there are many many teams represented because of all the transplants living in the area. I see almost as many Dallas hats around here as I do Jets stuff. The Dallas - Giants game attracts a TON of Cowboys fans, and they are loud when the Cowboys are winning. It just kills Giants fans, who luckily are - for the most part - good sports about it.
Yeah I will
I posted the Samsung thing, but one of them won't go up until tomorrow, one I spent some time on. I'll link them when it goes up.

Another Cowboys fan from Jersey here.
But I live in south Jeresey (right near Philly) where it is most definitely filled with Fecals fans. I've been a fan since I was 5 years old (my dad and older brothers were fans), but most of my first memories of da Boys are from when they were definitely NOT good in the 80s.
It's funny, at school nobody gave a crap that I was a Cowboys fan when they were 3-13 and 1-15. Then, the same fools who knew I was a Cowboys fan all along--not like I moved or changed schools or anything--started with the "bandwagon" and "frontrunner" BS once the 90s dynasty was ushered in. Pretty pathetic.
It's REALLY obvious why Bleedgreen is posting this garbage. Fecals fans will ALWAYS be jealous of the popularity of the Cowboys. They wish they had anywhere near that level of support. They can't STAND the fact that there are so many Cowboys fans all over the country, let alone in Philadelphia, "their" city. Bleedgreen even admits his "double standard" in his post, and the illogic and hypocrisy of his attempt at an argument.
The other thing that permeates his writing is FEAR! Fecals fans are really afraid the Cowboys are going to embarrass the Fecals in their own stadium. That's usually when the personal attacks start, since you really don't have anything else to write about, or any other way to attack your rival that you know is clearly a superior team.
And as far as the "most vile creature on earth" goes, it's pretty obvious who has singlehandedly written himself into that title. He goes by the moniker Bleedgreen, and he writes for SB Nation (or at least tries to).
