Sean Taylor passes away

According to ESPN, Sean Taylor has died.

Star-divide

No matter the team or circumstances, it's a deeply tragic loss and I feel for his family, the team and his fans.

We'll miss you, Sean. You were a knock-out player.

Heartbreaking.

God bless him, and his family.
It makes football seem so unimportant.

Guess who just got back today? Them wild-eyed boys that had been away...

Yeah, this really sucks

This goes way beyond rivalries or anything like that.  The guy was a player and seemed to really be turning his personal life around as well.

RIP Sean Taylor

It really sucks to see a man cut down in his prime like this, especially when he is just starting a player. A sad day in the league, and a sad day in everything in general.

RIP Sean, you were one hell of a player.

he wasn't even in his prime yet

he was still going to get So Much better, he was already one of the best, but he hadn't hardly reached his potential yet.......the kid had all the potential in the World....it wouldv'e been interesting to see how great he was going to end up in his late 20's

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family

and friends. This is such a tragedy for a young man to be killed in his home by a burglar.

I hope the person(s) are caught and brought to justice. This was the second time in a month that his house was broken into. The last time a knife was left on his bed. That seemed odd that the knife would of been left on his bed.

by Deke on Nov 27, 2007 9:38 AM CST reply actions

it happened last week

and yeah, seems like someone was sending a message to him, whioh is why he wanted to be home......if he wasn't injured he wouldv'e never been there.......traumatizing......

I'm not sure if the shooter was just trying to slow him down, and didn't think he'd die by shooting him in the leg or actually tried to kill him.....I wonder if whoever broke in their house knew they were home or not.........

I remember being so jealous and pissed when the Redskins drafted Taylor.....

Heartbroken

This is such a tragedy.  My heart goes out to his family and teammates.  When I first heard the news of his shooting I never imagined this would happen.  RIP Sean.

Absolutely heartbreaking

What a horrible, horrible tragedy. I always worried about him patrolling the secondary because he hit hard enough to put a serious hurtin' on someone. He was a beast of a football player. And to only be 24.

What a horrible, awful, disgusting, heartbreaking, senseless tragedy.

RIP #21

Life is precious and football is just a game...

I join with all my fellow Cowboys fans in extending my prayers for Sean Taylor's fiance, young child and other family members.  What a tragic loss.

At times like these we realize that life can be snatched from us in an instant be it a car wreck, a heart attack or some act of violence.

Perhaps now is a good time to reach out to the folks you love and let them know how much they mean to you.

The Red Ball Express will be rolling this year!

I'm beginning to think there is something

more to this story than just a robbery. Its been reported that the intruder just burst into the bedroom where taylor, his fiance and his baby were sleeping and just fired two shots and then ran out. The Fiance tried to call 911 on the land line phone, the line was dead, they had been cut. Could this have been a hit on taylor. This was the second time his house was broken into, in the last month, the last time a knife was left on his bed. I hope this is nothing more than just a bunch of media over reporting and trying to make something out of nothing, other than a horrific tragedy, but you have to wonder if there isn't something more to this story.

I read that too

There is something very odd about this.

I've seen some comments about this

Hashmarks (I think) was talking about this and said that it may have been related to the incident where Taylor was charged with brandishing a weapon and assault.  As the story goes, some ATVs were stolen from Taylor, and he tried to get them back.  He brandished a gun and got into a fight.  Even though he was trying to recover his property, he was charged for those acts.  Apparently the guys who allegedly stole the ATVs and were involved in the confrontation with Taylor were dangerous people and it is thought they may have some connection to this.  I should add that this is not meant as a condemnation of Taylor in any way, I am just reporting what I have seen/heard.  It strikes me as plausible.

The entire incident is too strange to be a botched robbery.  The fact that there were break-in attempts the previous week, that the phone lines were cut, etc. makes it seem very unlikely that stealing was the goal.  The thing that doesn't make sense to me is, why, if you were trying to kill someone, would you shoot them in the leg and flee?  Maybe it was meant to be a warning, I don't know.  It's all very sad and speculation doesn't help a lot.  Whoever the killer was, I hope they are caught and brought to justice quickly.

I agree, the robbery story

seemed very fishy to me right from the start. I think the details will come out soon enough.

I'm deeply saddened...

Thanks to some senseless bastards, an 18-month-old girl just lost her daddy.

As a father of two young daughters, it breaks my heart to hear of such a loss.

My prayers go out to Sean Taylor's loved ones.

No words seem adequate

to describe the loss of another human being to violence and in his own home.

There is no hatred for the Redskins today - only sadness for the family and friends and teammates and fans who have suffered a huge loss. Today we are all one with the Redskins - united in mourning.

My heart goes out to Sean's daughter. If she was in the room - all the more traumatic.

Very Sad news indeed

As a Cowboys fan it's natural to hate the Redskins or Eagles teams and despise their fans.  But even when they win and taunt and do all those things that make your blood boil you can't even dream of something like this happening to these players of a game that is just that - a game.

I hope and pray that the hands and eyes of God help someone catch the person(s) responsible as fast as possible.

I was shocked to hear he passed

I really thought his youth and athlete's constitution would have been enough to pull him through.

My condolences to all Redskins fans, Taylor's family and friends, and all U of M fans.

I agree with some other posters on here that this wasn't just a robbery gone bad. I also think with this being such a high profile homicide, that Miami law enforcement will go all out to find those responsible, and the truth behind this stupid senseless tragedy will come out.

My thoughts and prayers

go out to all who knew him in person and to all fans of football.  He will be missed by all.  I hate the fact that the one who will miss him more is his daughter.

RIP Sean
