Jerry Likes Him Some Berger
The Cowboys re-sign the probable back-up center.
I like this move.
Backup guard/center Joe Berger signed his one-year tender worth $435,000, leaving guard Cory Procter as the only unsigned exclusive rights free agent.
Berger could become the Cowboys' backup center this year. The club thought highly of him in the 2005 draft, but Carolina picked him in the sixth round. He played in three games for Miami in '05 and the Dolphins attempted to sneak him through waivers on Thanksgiving last season, only to be thwarted by the Cowboys.
While he didn't play in a game for the Cowboys, he took practice snaps at center. At 6-5, 315 pounds, Berger has good size and can move around pretty well.

Sweet
Backup center - check
Now if Proctor signs we'll look pretty good on our O-line depth.
I wasn't for sure Berger could play center, so this is a relief to hear.
