Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Cowboys team needs

Yahoo Sports takes a look at team needs for the NFC East. I thought their view of the Cowboys was pretty much dead-on. Their list of team needs - CB, WR, OL, DT, LB – pretty much line up with mine. And the players they mention are mostly the same guys I’ve been looking at.

Ex-Cowboy LB Ryan Fowler discusses his move to the Titans.

I forgot to mention that SB Nation is running a mock draft. We are somewhere in the middle of the first round, so I should be on the clock soon. Go take a look at the list over at Field Gulls, our Seahawks blog, and let me know who you want me to pick when our turn comes.

Damn it! Carolina picks Nelson

In that case Grizz, go with either Dwayne Bowe or Aaron Ross in that order.

I Picked Nelson

Just to get under your skin Terry :) Not really, but I found it amusing.

Chris Houston or Aaron Ross in that order

or what I would really like to do is trade down to 31 and pick Eric Wright

See if New Orleans is willing to give up their 3rd round pick to move up.

Marcus Washington to be released?

In the Yahoo Sports article, they say that Marcus Washington will likely be released either June 1st as a cap hit or at the end of next season.  That's the first I've seen that anywhere.  Has anyone else heard of this?

And about the Mock Draft, is it weird to anyone else that Nelson and Carriker have gone ahead of Leon Hall?

Grizz-Trade down or pick up the best CB or WR available.  I haven't done any WR research, but my CB list goes Hall, Ross, Houston.

not at all

I think Leon Hall's stock is starting to drop and I can see him slipping down in the first round.

Just remember, that there will be at least a few prospects, who are projected 1st rd picks, that fall maybe even into the 2nd rd.

Last year it was LenDale White and Winston Justice. Its guaranteed to happen this year and Hall might be one of them.

Rumors of others dropping

Some rumors of Levi Brown dropping (Very low probibility of dropping all the way to #22).

Some teams apparently feel he won't be successful as a left OT.  Inconsitent, and problems with speed rushers.

He would be a great value at #22.  Let him compete with Kosier for starting left guard.

Take a WR

enough with the defense in the first round.

Ginn, Bowe, or Jarrettt (in that order).

by jtts on Apr 4, 2007 4:32 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Not that I want a WR but Bowe is definitely

the best all around receiver of the bunch.  Big, good blocker, great hands, and has pretty good speed.  Ginn is just fast I don't think he is anything special, I can see him being a bust. But like I said I am happy with the receivers we have.

Grizz I have a question

Has there been any indication that we would do more shotgun formations this year as it seems that is were Romo does his best work.  I also think Romo played out of the shotgun in college a lot also.

I haven't heard anything about this

So I can't offer anything definitive. The Cowboys did use the shotgun more last year when Romo played, supposedly Bledsoe was not a big fan of the shotgun and I don't think Parcells was either. But as for using it more this year, I just don't know. But once I get out to training camp, I will check it out.

Aaron Ross CB Texas

He's going to be a starter eventually, and we don't need to throw him into the line-up immediately.

Best 'Needed' Player Available

At this point, I think you have to consider Leon Hall (would never be available at #22),Chris Houston (CB-Arkansas) or Teddy Ginn, Jr. (WR/KR Ohio State).

trade down...

i'll take something in the new england(28?) to indy(32) range as well as there 2nd for our first, fourth, and dont we have and extra 6th?  take advantage of some of that depth at CB/WR with the late first(Rice? Ginn? Revis? Houston? Hall?) and look for two guys in the trenches in the second.  Im not sure about the OL/DL depth, but a talented skill player in that first and bigfella or two in the second would be so worth forth rounder.  the question then becomes would a later round team be willing to swap a 2nd for a fourth and a sixth to move ten to 14 picks in the first? and would that be worth it to us?

u looked like a bunch of retards tryin to hump a door knob

by jacksastud on Apr 4, 2007 10:07 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Not that easy

Everyone wants to trade down after the first 15.  Why do you think it took so long for the Steeler's blog to pick?  They were looking to trade down and nobody wanted to trade up.  It takes two to trade and I don't think there's anyone in the Cowboys range that are a must have player for any team.

Our Pick

I say go for Dwayne Jarrett from USC. I know his pro day was bad, but look at the boddy of work in college. TO and TG are both in their 30's. Let's start grooming for the future.

Been a Cowboy fan from 4 yrs old.
