Flozell in decline

Flozell lands on a list of 10 veterans who are in decline. Tell us something we don’t know.

FLOZELL ADAMS, OT, DALLAS
Despite earning his third Pro Bowl nomination in 2006, Adams fell below his previous playing level. Still recovering from a torn ACL, he lacked the quickness and agility to handle speed rushers. Considering Adams massive size, it's not surprising he struggled with finesse rushers, but in the past he did a better job of overwhelming them with his power.

But the situation is still this: Flozell may be in decline and not the player he was once was – and that player has always been maddeningly inconsistent – but he’s better than our other options at this point. And, he’s still better than a lot of left tackles in this league. I view Flozell as a blessing and a curse. Face it, it could be much worse for us, {cough - Torrin Tucker}, but I do look forward to the day one of our young guys can take over and man the left tackle spot competently and consistently. That day is probably a year away since this is Flozell’s contract year.

We have a couple of new blogs at SB Nation. Baltimore Beat Down covers the Baltimore Ravens, and the Canal Street Chronicles, which covers the New Orleans Saints. Or, as we like to call them, the Dallas Cowboys East.

So much uncertainty!

You know what if Flo just chucks it in and retires or just get hurt right off the bat? This guy isn't giving motivational seminars and he is probably in pretty good shape financially. I don't know if love of the game plays any role with him?

McQ, Huh were is he in his development? Does he have the wheels to play LT, you know that I think is were the question about him comes in.

Could we be looking seriously at Jake Long next year? Woo  is the Cowboy fan! Come on training camp1 My mind wonder hither ad yawn through the abyss of uncertainty!

Flozell

Obviously this is Flo's last year with the club, and hopefully its a good one so he can get one last good contract in FA with another team and we can get a young guy in there for the next 10 years or so.

I'm rooting for McQ to do the job or even Free at some point, but if worse comes to worse at one of the most critical positions in football, there will always be 2 elite prospects in the 2008 draft to be had with Cleveland's 1st rd pick, Jake long or Sam Baker.

I think that's how it'll go

although I suppose there's a chance that McQ will have to play this year depending on Flo's health.

Obviously at this stage it's without pads, but reports are good on McQ.

Flo will be fine

and Len Pasq on Romo's Seattle game...for those who thought that was a '+' game for him...

"In the Cowboys' bitter wild-card round loss at Seattle, it was Romo's ham-handedness on a placement kick that everyone recalls and cringes over. But his performance as a thrower was pretty bad, too. He completed 17 of 29 passes for 189 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. Not bad for a kid making the initial postseason start of his career. But notable is that Romo had just one offensive series all night in which he completed more than two consecutive passes. And he didn't exactly light it up against a Seattle pass defense that was beat up and struggling."

if you believe that garbage

I feel pretty bad for you because a 89 qb rating in anyone's book cannot be considered "pretty bad". Just a stupid comment by Lenny P., plain and simple.

Now if he would have said, "not one of his better performances" or "not great", that would be more accurate, but to say pretty bad is down right wrong.

Exactly

He made some uncharacteristic mistakes, but on the other hand he led his team back and put them in position to win. You won't get that kind of performance - all the pressure on you to win and lead the team down the field - from more than a handful of QBs in the league. Period.

Brett Favre not listed? Michael Strahan?

I could easily add ten better names of "NFL players in decline."

I expect Flo to have a better year this year--it's a contract year, and he's better physically this season than last. How could he be in "decline" if he's gonna be better?
