T.O. gets paid
Technically, the bonus would be activated if Owens was on the team's 80-man roster at the close of business June 3. But since June 3 is Sunday, and NFL business for this week officially ceased at 3 p.m. (CDT) Friday, officially the Cowboys would have been required to release him Friday to void the contract.
Well, surprise, surprise, 3 p.m. Friday came and went without the Cowboys filing a transaction with the league, meaning Owens will not only be on the roster at the June 3 deadline, but on the team for the 2007 season and $3 million richer.
"I think we have one of the better, young, talented receiving corps that's really not playing, out there," Tony Romo said Friday after the Cowboys' OTA session. "I like what they're going to do, and when they get their chance, I think they'll be all right."
Patrick Crayton and Sam Hurd are running with the first team. But don’t forget about Miles Austin, and even Jamaica Rector is trying to hang onto a roster spot. But they even have competition, at least expected competition if Isaiah Stanback can get healthy, and Jamel Richardson is supposed to be a guy with the physical skills.

You guys know him as Jaxon, the Carolina Panthers fan and friend of mine who posts comments here at BTB on a semi-regular basis. But now he's gone and got his own blog for SB Nation covering the Carolina Panthers called the Cat Scratch Reader. Yup, that name is brilliant. So go over and check him out and welcome him to the SB Nation neighborhood. Also, give him the business about the Panthers losing to the Cowboys two straight years, at their stadium. And they won't have Keyshawn Johnson to kick around this year, so they went out and got another slow WR from USC to replace him. I kid. I actually think the Panthers had a heck of a draft.

Does this article from JJT remind you of this article from yesterday?

it is somewhat concerning because....
I do not no who the leaders of this team are. I have read quite a bit, as all of you have. I have seen and heard so many interviews over the years that I know what the players are going to say before they say it. However, when you have a players coach you need player leaders. The only player I have heard other members of the team mention as a leader is Greg Ellis and he is not a sure fire starter or even a sure fire contributor to the team this year. This is what concerns me.
To be a leader on a team one has to be a vocal member of the team; not only that, but this guy has to step up and deliver. Now, on offence there is Owens; definitely vocal and definitely able to provide a big play and or an extra effort when one is needed. There is also Romo, who despite his much publicized off field life, seems to have the heart of a leader.
Then we turn to were a leader is really needed on this team, the defense. The before mentioned Greg Ellis has the respect and attention of the whole team, but as I mentioned before how long would this last and what good would it do if he is not on the field? Who is going to step up? We have play makers in Williams, Ware, and a host of others, but who is going to step up and be the vocal leader? Say what you want about Burnett, but he sure has the personality to be an on field leader....can he earn the right to be on the field enough to earn respect? Carpenter, has been soft spoken and drawing the company line, but I see a fire in him, maybe its just the roids? Who is it going to be? I remember this question poised last year in an article at DC.com and to me at least it was never answered; However, unlike last year the boys don't have Papa Parcells to help them stand and deliver like men. Boys to Men, who will it be?

Leaders
I think you have to have Romo as the offense's leader.
On defense, I think it's Brady James.

Thanks Guys
I'm learning from the best, Grizz the Blogfather! I'm sure we'll get a little chatter going before the showndown in Dec! Not sure I want to watch it with Grizz like last year. That was painful!
