Offensive line news

Todd Archer does the roster evaluation thing with the offensive line. I will do my own evaluation later today.
For now check out Archer’s and check out dunkman’s diary on the same subject.

We signed another offensive lineman.

The Cowboys have added another offensive lineman to the roster by signing guard/center Steve Franklin.
Franklin, 6-2, 320 pounds, spent this spring playing for the Rhein Fire in NFL Europa as a non-allocated player. Because he will count against the 85-man roster limit, the cowboys will have to release three players once they start signing draft picks.

Franklin, who played for linebackers coach Paul Pasqualoni at Syracuse, went to training camp last year with Kansas City before being cut. He was a starter for the Fire in the spring.

Assistant coach Garrett gets his own write-up over at DC.com. Not Jason, but his brother John, who is coaching the tight ends.

His younger brother Jason spent seven seasons as a backup quarterback for the Cowboys and is now the Cowboys' new offensive coordinator. His father Jim, a long-time scout, coach and spent, spent 17 years in the Cowboys organization as a scout. And even his other younger brother Judd managed to latch on to the Cowboys practice squad for a season in 1993.

So it was only a matter of time before John became part of the Cowboys family as well.

"Not many people know this," Garrett said, "but I tried out for the '88 Cowboys team, but didn't make it."

The brothers played together on the same teams when they were young, now they’re coaching together.

"We've been together a lot on teams, playing together," John Garrett said. "[Jason] is such a knowledgeable guy and he loves it so much, and that's a joy to be around. You are coaching at a high level because of the knowledge, but he has enthusiasm and he wants to do it right."

Oh, Jason Whitten is just a guy who...

is going to say th right thing all the time, then go out and work hard in practice and play hard in the game doing everything that's asked of him. When he retires he will write a book and tell everyone the truth!

6-2 center? you think that's just a coach doing a favor? unless he has a hx of playing NT I bet he doesn't even make camp. Then again 6-2 center may be perfect for Romo! LOL!
