Cowboys and Broncos practice ends, game to come
DC.com has some notes from this morning’s practice. But the notes aren’t all good.
Who's Hot:
Denver's offense was rather efficient in the morning practice, both in 7-on-7 and team drills. Quarterbacks Jay Cutler and Patrick Ramsey completed several passes down the field to open receivers. Even the Cowboys' first-team defense had some problems containing the Broncos' passing game. Denver wide receiver Brandon Marshall had at least three nice grabs in the morning practice.
Check it out, Courtney Brown is getting some love. He needs to start making his push, he has to convince the Cowboys to keep five safeties and that he should be one of them.
Seventh-round pick Courtney Brown seems to be making a nice transition from cornerback to safety in his first training camp. The former Cal-Poly standout had a nice practice Thursday, getting two interceptions, including one in team drills where he outfought a Denver receiver to haul in the pick some 40 yards downfield.
A little bit on Stanback returning punts.
Isaiah Stanback looked smooth returning punts with Patrick Crayton, Terence Newman and Jerheme Urban. The rookie receiver did muff a short punt, however, after racing some 10 yards up the field to make the catch.

There’s another post at the DMN blog where Stanback talks about beating Champ Bailey for a TD. Stanback says Champ was guessing, and guessed wrong.

As dunkman noted in the comments, there’s a good story on Joey Thomas by Brad Sham on DC.com. And Terry noted that Thomas had another good day at practice in the comments, courtesy of the DMN blog. Meow Mix anybody? Perhaps some Friskies?

I've been telling everyone
its only a matter of time, the kid is special.
I see him being a big time star someday.
Stanback
Terry,
I hope you are right about Stanback. He seems to be making a statement(and he hasn't been practicing that long). I must confess that his foot injury worried me, but early indications are that the Cowboys may have "hit" with his selection. Wouldn't it be great if he has a tremendous upside and is able to realize it all. Go Stanback!
I wonder why I keep thinking I, 200 miles away, know more than the Cowboy doctors on the scene.
