Dallas Cowboys article roundup

Let’s take a quick spin around the Cowboys media on this morning before the game.

Wade Phillips is going back to Houston. The S-A EN and the DMN both have long stories about his return. But I’m more interested in the present than the past, so this Gary Kubiak quote was nice to read.

"We're going to get a good feel for our team because the Cowboys have been smoking hot," said Texans coach Gary Kubiak, whose team is 1-1. "It's going to be a big-time test for us."

Smoking hot. Nice.

The Cowboys are using this preseason game to make a little alteration to the coaching alignment. Secondary coach Todd Bowles is moving closer to the action.

The Cowboys plan to move secondary coach Todd Bowles from the press box to the field for tonight's game against the Houston Texans.

Several Cowboys players asked coach Wade Phillips to move Bowles to the field to make communication better between the secondary and the coaches.

{snip}

Before, Stewart had to speak to the defensive line, linebackers and secondary players. Stewart will just deal with the line and linebackers and Bowles will provide input to the secondary.

JJT talks with Bob Hayes sister, who continues to campaign on behalf of her brother, and lets us know that media reports about Bob being in an unmarked grave were erroneous.

Here is another story from Kubiak

This story touts the Houston WRs while admitting that the defensive and offensive line are formidable.

The players, however, are trying to keep their focus on beating a physical Dallas team that has been tearing through its preseason opponents. In the Cowboys’ two preseason victories, their defensive starters didn't allow a touchdown against Denver or Super Bowl champion Indianapolis. Dallas even pulled out the blitz in their 31-20 win over the Broncos
