Quincy will get an a pick!
I am on his bandwagon (basically because of desperation), so he better not let me down!!

The game is scheduled to be shown
on NFL Network at 1:00 pm EDT Saturday.
My prediction is that we will have to throw the ball more to score here.
Not with Alonzo Coleman in the game!

looking for Stanback
to have a big game, and all our starters to stay healthy on that first drive.
anyone know
why Brad Sham isnt doing the radio broadcast?
Judging by
comments on DMN blog, Im guessing that Brad and Babe are on the tv broadcast

Starting line up from the DMN blog
On D
Here's the defensive starters
Left defensive end-Marcus Spears
Nose guard-Jay Ratliff
Right defensive end-Stephen BowenIf Bowen does well, he makes the team.
The linebackers are
Strong side-Anthony Spencer
Inside-Bobby Carpenter
Inside-Akin Ayodele
Weak side-Junior GlymphIt will be interesting to see how Carpenter plays tonight. Junior Glymph needs a strong game to make the squad. Spencer needs the work. He hasn't shown the team how good he can be yet.
The corners are Aaron Glenn and Jacques Reeves
The free safety is Patrick Watkins and the strong safety is Keith Davis.Good for Mr. Reeves to get the start. Let's see how he performs. He's probably ahead of Joey Thomas and Nate Jones at corner.
ON O-
Left tackle-Flo Adams
Left guard-Joe Berger
Center-Cory Procter
Right guard-Leonard Davis
Right tackle-Marc ColomboNo surprises here. Adams and Colombo need the work and Davis has to develop chemistry with Colombo.
Wide receivers are Jerheme Urban and Miles Austin.
Whoever has the better game makes the team.Tight end-Anthony Fasano
Fullback-Oliver Hoyte
Tailback-Tyson ThompsonLast chance for Hoyte to prove himself
Quarterback-Brad Johnson

TD
He's now "The Urban Cowboy!!!"
was it as good as it sounded?
Yeah it was
nifty moves a lot broken tackles, It was mostly Urban but ironically Austin had a good block at one point
by Burt D @ Blogging The Boys on Aug 30, 2007 7:22 PM CDT up reply actions
Cowboys first defense series
A. Glenn jumps a route in the flat, gets the deflection, almost the INT
Junior Glymph stops the run after 3 yds
Vikings convert on 3/7 in front of Reeves
Underthrown pass INC
Reeves comes back on two passes in a row, knocking both balls down.
Punt, fielded at the 4 by J. Urban, TD
Yeah TD for Urban
DMN blog
said Urban knocked someone on their butt?

write up
Thanks, Incredifan.
I am listening on the radio at work and it iss hard to catch everything.
Who was it on this blog that kept touting Urban???
Alan Ball with great tackle on coverage
saving a return for a td
by Burt D @ Blogging The Boys on Aug 30, 2007 7:26 PM CDT reply actions
Ball makes a play
now,
Did we find our possible PR, or was this a fluke....
that becomes the question of the night.
Our second def series
2yd run to our right side
Good pass pressure, M. Spears pass deflection
3-8, fullback pass in the flat gets 6 yds (N. Jones tackle)
Nice, play by play

Miles Austin picks up a first down

Austin fighting back
Austin with another completion

I'm starting to think that too
by Dave Halprin on Aug 30, 2007 7:34 PM CDT up reply actions
Austin with a big pick up
but taken back on a penalty, and a lot of yac sadly taken back
by Burt D @ Blogging The Boys on Aug 30, 2007 7:35 PM CDT reply actions
Yes
Thye are both young and talented and we are getting long in the tooth with TNT.
If we cut either, they will get snapped up. Let's keep them if we can and keep the youth.
7 receivers is a lot
I feel like Austin will just edge out Urban
by Burt D @ Blogging The Boys on Aug 30, 2007 7:37 PM CDT up reply actions
We need a punt returner
and Urban can do that. Tyson can do kick-offs now, so with Newman hobbled, and Urban returning punts, that might leave Austin out.
Now keeping 7 WRs
means we have to cut a kicker....
...sorry Martin.
2nd OFF series
Incomplete pass thrown behind
TT picks thru middle for 4 yds
M. Austin catches two slants in a row, for 12 and 8
TT loses 2, O Line collapsed
Off Pass Interference (Fasano)
TT checkdown pass gets 11 yds, needed 14
A nice block by Austin allowed TT for
an 6 yard run
by Burt D @ Blogging The Boys on Aug 30, 2007 7:41 PM CDT reply actions
Give the young man credit
He is going down with a fight.
I actually think he would be the better choice long term, but Urban can do punts and we need a punt returner.
Urban fumble, boo
Urban fumbles
not good for him
by Burt D @ Blogging The Boys on Aug 30, 2007 7:44 PM CDT reply actions
Go Stephen Bowen
Yup
by Dave Halprin on Aug 30, 2007 7:47 PM CDT up reply actions
I heard Spags say before the game
he is almost assured to make the team because another team would be sure to pick him up if he was cut and supposedly our coaches really like him

Bowen sack
the guy is quick for a big guy

It sounds like a Pop Warner game.
Well this is the 4th preseason game

by Burt D @ Blogging The Boys on Aug 30, 2007 7:49 PM CDT up reply actions
I know I know
Its just pretty weird listening to Bill Jones on the radio doing play by play of the Cowboys.....just adds to the surreality of it all.
by Brandon Worley on Aug 30, 2007 7:51 PM CDT up reply actions
Is this the same Bollinger
they said was toast and at best 3rd string? Doesn't say much for the 2nd string defense.
Bowen made another play
by Burt D @ Blogging The Boys on Aug 30, 2007 7:51 PM CDT reply actions
Boo TD Minny
they score a td
converted Urbans fumble for a td not good for him
by Burt D @ Blogging The Boys on Aug 30, 2007 7:52 PM CDT reply actions
Matt Moore is in
Another fumble
Backup center & 3rd string QB
can you tell who screwed up the exchange or was Moore already away from center?
Procter might have sat down a little on the ball
by Burt D @ Blogging The Boys on Aug 30, 2007 7:58 PM CDT up reply actions
Pat Watkins
stood up a fullback in his tracks for a tackle

Curtis with a TD
Fasano better watch his back lol
by Burt D @ Blogging The Boys on Aug 30, 2007 8:25 PM CDT reply actions
Moore looks like a keeper
though I really don't want to keep 3 qbs
by Burt D @ Blogging The Boys on Aug 30, 2007 8:26 PM CDT reply actions
Whatever
When the other option is Brad "BJ" Johnson, who's old and frail, I think a 3rd QB is necessary. Especially one who's showing this much promise.

Practice Squad...
Can a player on the practice squad beat out a 3rd String player during the year? (In other words, how can a player on practice squad move up to active roster) Or once on the practice squad is he kinda just stuck there unless someone is hurt?

They made the FG
The play was out of bounds
but I'm not sure why we called timeout. Maybe the FG team was late getting on.
by Dave Halprin on Aug 30, 2007 8:42 PM CDT up reply actions
Here we go second half
JT not having a great game
It's Not a Good Sign
To read the play-by-play and have one entry after another that reads "pass complete" and ends with "(J. Thomas)". Yikes. He's toast.
Nate Jones got abused
Reeves and Butler or Ball make the team
Jones and Thomas get cut
by Burt D @ Blogging The Boys on Aug 30, 2007 8:55 PM CDT reply actions
Austin again
Making the cut...
Do u think Dallas is gonna have a "suprise" cut by saturday?..someone noone was expecting?

Running game
I've got to admit I had hoped with a few of the line starters in there and TT that the running game would have shown more. Either defenses are stacking the line or our run blocking needs some improvement.
or TT is just not that good
by Burt D @ Blogging The Boys on Aug 30, 2007 9:22 PM CDT up reply actions
Well, it was Brad Johnson who started
so anybody would stack the line then. It's not like you'll get beat deep.
by Dave Halprin on Aug 30, 2007 9:24 PM CDT up reply actions
Wade was pumped they stopped them
on 4th down.
Bad Moore, bad!
Moore should have tucked that
by Burt D @ Blogging The Boys on Aug 30, 2007 9:26 PM CDT reply actions

by Dave Halprin on Aug 30, 2007 9:30 PM CDT up reply actions

by Burt D @ Blogging The Boys on Aug 30, 2007 9:46 PM CDT up reply actions
yea they're starting to get on my nerves too..
They keep passin the ball and not handing it to the RB and as soon as they get redy to, they fumble or turnover..

Now just let Coleman take it from here
